Ted Williams last at bat ticket PSA grading with the term CXL
Does anyone know what the term CXL means when referring to this item.....possibly "cancelled" ??
Thanks Russ https://auction.lelands.com/bids/bidplace?itemid=121846 |
possibly meaning that once it was hole punched, it wasn't valid for admission

Most of the times when there is punch hole on a complete ticket they are comp tickets and they are invalid for a refund but good for admission , never saw the term CXL
Here is the answer I got from PSA CXL is an abbreviation for “Canceled” That was old PSA terminology used for a hole punch/comp ticket. I did away with that, and we only used “Punched” now, on full tickets with a hole punch. |
Is says cancelled in the auction description...

Yah PSA was wrong all those years putting CXL and Cancelled on hole punched tickets. Hole punched usually meant Complimentary. I've seen numerous examples of this written out by teams. Here is one from 1968 and the Dodgers sending this person complimentary tickets.
