Open for Bidding - LOTG Summer Set Builder Auction
Hi Everyone!
Just a quick heads' up that the LOTG Summer '24 Set Builder auction is open for bidding. The auction closes July 13. The Set Builder auction is a little different from our Premier auctions in that it's a little less high-end, and a little more geared towards - you guessed it - set builders. This one has a host of T206 cards, both graded and ungraded, many from a collection of 650+ T206s that we brought in recently. We've also got an outstanding assortment of high-grade, graded postwar vintage cards, including hundreds of 1961, 1963, 1971 and 1975 Topps. Many of these cards come from high-ranking registry sets that we either broke up in our last auction, or will be breaking up in our next. For the memorabilia collectors, we've also broken up a vintage pennant collection, and a vintage equipment collection that includes many store model baseball gloves, leather football helmets, and catcher's masks. And of course, we've got a great selection of early photos. It's a fun auction that won't break the bank. Please check it out at https://bid.loveofthegameauctions.com/Lots/Gallery. For those who are wondering, our summer Premier catalog auction will be coming in September. We're still accepting consignments for that one, so if you've got any material you would like to see in our catalog, please reach out to me at Info@Loveofthegameauctions.com, or to Tim Gallagher at Tim@LOTGAuctions.com. Thanks! -Al |
I was just curious about one listing in particular.
The preview flip-book version of the catalog showed a T206 Alperman EPDG (lot 304). I've never actually seen this front/back combo (most resources do seem to indicate that it is a possible combo), so I was very excited at the chance to bid. However, now that the auction is online, that lot has been listed as withdrawn. Was this indeed an EPDG Alperman that has perhaps been pulled for a future auction, or was there some other issue with the listing? Thanks in advance for anything you can share! |
It was an error in the listing. It's not an EPDG Alderman, and rather than pull it and renumber the entire catalog, we just withdrew the lot. We just had the wrong back image in the listing, which caused us to get the title wrong, and by the time we figured it out, the preview had already gone out.
Hope this helps! -Al |

Great to see the Set Builders Auction back in town! These offerings are fun and enticing. I have looked again and again at the endorsed gloves, T206s with scarce backs, very desirable Conlon and Thompson photos, 'sweet' sweet cap pins and memorable ''60s' cards with a few Mantles to enjoy, particularly with "Ohio" playing in the background. Many thanks Al, Andrew,Tim, Sandy and the whole crew. all the best, Barry

However, there appear to be some lots that do not have descriptions, such as the below: https://bid.loveofthegameauctions.co...e?itemid=35597 None of the gloves appear to have a description. |
Hey all!
With the Set Builder auctions, a lot of the items are simple, lower-dollar cards. In those cases, you'll see no - or very limited - descriptions, mostly on cards that are not graded, or on group lots. The gloves will have descriptions uploaded this week, as that appears to be an error. Thanks! -Al |
Just got my winnings today. Very wonderful and very cool.
