Anyone know how to get in contact with an eBay underbidder?

Had a first happen tonight as I’ve selling off cards. Had a buyer ask to cancel a transaction as in a last second bid, he had his finger one row off on his number pad. His explanation and four bids in the last minute seem to make sense so I cancelled the sale.

But is there any way to contact the underbidder, who I can also see made several bids in the last minute. eBay wouldn’t like this but I’d rather just contact them directly to sell the card rather than relist and wait for five days. Anyone know how to do this? I can see their eBay user name, and can go to their profile page, but it won’t let me contact them.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Strange you can't contact him through his profile page. Did you click on his feedback number? If so that should take you to his feedback profile. In the upper right hand corner there are a few things to click on. One of wihch is contact member.

If that does not work and it should, since you know his ebay user name you can check to see if he is selling anything on ebay himself . If so go to one of his listings and go to "contact seller" and contact him that way. Also if he does not have any sale listings check to see if he has any completed items and again contact him from that listing.

Good Luck

If the original sale "completed" and you just cancelled it, you could also send a Second Chance Offer to the underbidder for whatever their high bid was. The transaction would still go thru Ebay, unfortunately. But sending a Second Chance Offer also allows you to send them a note along with the offer.

Second chance offer

Got in touch with him in another way

Not sure exactly why none of the things suggested worked. Since the auction was cancelled, eBay said it could be relisted, but no second chance offer. Then I recognized the underbidder’s eBay name. He bought a card from me last week. Went back to that auction and contacted him through that. And was able to make the deal. Thanks for the ideas. It all worked out.

Nice! Glad it worked out despite eBay and their policies. ;)
