How many cards including all variations in T206

Just curious. Is there a site that lists how many cards are in the T206 set counting all known variations listed by each back ? Just the #, the list of players is not necessary. Also what is the grand total ? Thanks

Do you mean the total number of front-back combinations? I’m not sure of the number, especially since new combinations are being confirmed all the time, but it’s in the thousands. The T206 Resource site (https://t206resource.com/) has the checklists you would need to figure it out, and a spreadsheet showing the known backs for each card.

I have the master set checklist at 5284 different confirmed front/back combos if you exclude the brown Old Mills it would be 5270.

Yep, I knew it was 5,000+

Pat, when I saw this thread, I knew you would jump on and provide the answer. Your knowledge of the set is incredible. And your willingness to share it is greatly appreciated. I knew it was ~5300. Now I know the exact number. Thank you.

I wonder how close David Hall ended up getting before he sold his collection. He was approaching or slightly over 5,000 at one point I think, right?

I thought I heard it was between 5,000-6,000. Thanks for the input. How many are associated with each back ?

Pat: That's great, just what I was asking for. Thanks for sharing between collectors.

Approaching 5000 is correct I have seen a lot of claims that he had over 5000 cards in the master set but that's incorrect.
I think a lot of those claims come from when Heritage started auctioning his T206's and their statement that it was over 5000 cards. He had an amazing collection that included 100's of duplicates and over 100 varieties and misprints that were included in that 5000 number that Heritage auctioned. He didn't auction off all of his cards in Heritage but he still didn't have over 5000 cards in the master set.

David Hall himself said he had around 5000 for the master set but he didn't give a specific number so it could have been 4700 or 4800.

I think Brady Hill could be close to Hall's master number.
He has over 3300 in his PSA set registry's and he only has a couple of the Piedmont and Sweet Caporal backs listed in the registry, most of the 3300+ are off backs.

Thanks Pat!! Great info and very useful!
Interesting that Sovereign 150 is the only back that actually has the number of subjects it is supposed to have exactly!
Brady Hill has a lot of T206s and may hit the 5000 mark if he sticks with it
I know he sold off his complete PSA 1914 Cracker Jack Set earlier this year maybe to free up some more funds to make a serious run at the T206 Master
