Help Identifying Possible Black Yankees Jersey

A long shot, but I recently acquired this Jersey from a seller that did not know much about it. It appears to be wool, late 1940s or early 1950s with original tag manufactured by Coane Athletic and Knit Manufacturing of Philadelphia. It also came from Philadelphia and not the New York area.

Is has honest wear along the neckline, and a repair on the back. It has embroidered arm air vents. It is also short sleeve. It does happen to look similar to a Jersey worn jersey worn by Bob Griffith of the Black Yankees in the 1948 east-west all-star game. It is size 38. I have found a decent number of photos with Black Yankee Uniforms and most do not look like this, but the 1948 ones appear to. From what I can initially dig up online I can see Coane appeared to make high a variety of quality athletic wear in the late 1940s and early 50s including college letterman jackets, hats and wool baseball uniforms. I saw a Net54 thread that indicated Coane produced hats for at least 2 MLB teams during this era. Anyone have any additional information on Coane or next steps in researching this one? I thought it could also have been made for a minor league team possibly.

The biggest potential difference I see (between your jersey and the one worn by Griffith) is the front button panel. I wish I could blow up the photo more, and with higher resolution...

But it appears that the button panel on your jersey terminates in a "point" just below the 5th Button. Looks like the "point" is less than 2" below the bottom button... perhaps more like 1.5 inches.

I cannot see any evidence of the pointed area in the East-West Photo. It looks like this area is just flat (with no point evident) and a good 4-5 inches of material showing below Griffith's 5th button.

I could be wrong, as the photo is not as clear or as large as would be ideal. But perhaps you can tell with the photo in-hand. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks perezfan, that is a helpful analysis, I think your right on the point termination, though its close and I had not thought to look at that detail. Additional photos might help.

Another thing I forgot to point out is the lettering is in a navy blue and not black.

Yankees Jersey

Also, the letters appear to be further apart and have a steeper arc on the uniform in the E-W photo as opposed to your jersey. The jerseys are similar, but I don't think they are the same. Still, a nice, vintage jersey.

I see what you are saying Joe Hunter.

The lettering seems particularly close on the second E and S in the all-star image.

Here's the full picture.

There is another Yankees uniform in the shot and the buttons actually look black, I had not previously seen the full image.
