Any card shops in Madison, WI?
Hi everyone,
I'll be traveling the area more frequently and was wondering if anyone knew of some card shops nearby? Surrounding area? Thanks! Wazoo |
I was there earlier this summer and visited some of the antique malls. One seller had booths at a couple of them with cards; bought some of the 1961 Jay Publishing unopened packs - Dodgers, Red Sox, White Sox, etc. He had new old stock and multiples of most teams.
I went to Odana (southwest side), Antiques Mall of Madison (northeast side), and I think Maple Bluff. Also took an hour drive to the Christopher Columbus mall, which was mostly filled with junk wax. I didn't look for any baseball card specific shops. I prefer the thrill of the hunt at antique malls. http://www.net54baseball.com/showpos...3&postcount=38 That was my haul. The Bazooka stamps are currently in the vintagenonsports auction along with my T56 Emblems PSA set and my R184-1 Indians PSA set. |
The baseball card shoppe at west gate mall was the one I always went to as a kid. And there's Jim's card corner on University Ave.

The Baseball Card Shoppe
The Baseball Card Shoppe was flooded 2 years ago and they lost most of their inventory. They were uninsured, so they are closed.
The only shop left in Madison is Jim's Card Corner on University Avenue. There is Vern's in Evansville, but he is only open on Saturday. |
4 years of undergrad and I never knew there was a card shop in Madtown. Skip the card shop and go to Brats and walk state street, or grab a beer at the greatest student union in the country (fact).

I was actually at the MSU/Wisconsin game 2 weeks ago...student section was wild. Now that's school spirit. |

As for State St and the student union those are definitely worth a visit if you're only there temporarily. I believe that's the only student union in the country that serves beer. |
Tom and Anita Daniels are doing fine. They were set up as usual at the National and were in good spirits.

Daniels
Tom and Anita set up at shows in Dubuque and Milwaukee where I run into them quite often. They still have some nice inventory that was stored elsewhere during the flood. They are great people and they always give discounts to my 4 grandsons when I take them to shows. If I remember correctly, they have set up at every National except for 1.

Tom and Anita set up at my monthly show in Milwaukee. They are as sweet as can be. I am lucky to have them at the show. Also, Darin Blang runs a monthly show in Madison. I think he has one scheduled for this Sunday.

does having a super terrific student union help UW students cope with the annual disappointment delivered by their football team? on the bright side, the outback bowl is super prestigious.

Even the most innocent of threads turns to crap....unbelievable

Bumping a dead thread just to gloat that someone else's team lost is poor form.

The water cooler area is perfect for the smack talk :)
