James (Jimmy) Sanford Lavender...
 

So of you know that I collect Jimmy Lavender T206's. My wife is related to him. Exactly how? I'm still doing that research but know that the Lavenders moved to middle Georgia from North Carolina in the mid 1800's.

Anyway, I am active with Find A Grave, and located his grave in Montezuma - about two hours away. Finally made the trip yesterday and took some pictures. Talked to locals and it appears that he and his wife had no children, and he was the last of his family in the area.

I know about that card and Polo Grounds and Cracker Jack. That's all I am aware of.

I had a excellent Cracker Jack and gave it to a friend on his birthday. It was 2002 and he was born in 1915. I thought I'd be neat to give him a card made the year he was born. His son was a close friend and a college baseball coach and I thought it was fitting. He passed away two years ago.

Jimmy is also in the 1917 Collins-McCarthy/Boston Store/Weil Baking/Standard Biscuit sets; in fact, he being captioned on the Phillies is proof that that set and its companions were issued in 1917 and not 1916 as was chronicled for many years. Here's one on ebay:

The Famous & Barr I posted is from the m101-5 set, here's one technically different (by card number) from the m101-4 set; of course, a master set would require a boatload of different backs:

Jimmy, collecting the different backs of the M101-4/5 and related cards would be fun, IMO - but, then again, I am partial to real-photo cards. I sold or traded this one a couple of years ago:

It's an E&S postcard. I picked it up in a Hakes auction a few years ago, if my memory is correct.
