T206 Sullivan x3

We've discussed crop lines before and nothing earth shattering here, but this is the first example/player I've noted having a crop line on 3 different backs.

Sullivan is a usual suspect for having crop lines, so I wasn't shocked when the Sovereign back showed up.

Just thought some other members might enjoy seeing it. For those keeping score, Sullivan crop lines can be found on Piedmont 150, Sweet Caporal 150 and now Sovereign 150 backs.

Jantz,

I saw that card when it was listed, I wouldn't mind having it but the starting
bid is already way more than I would pay for it. I have a Sullivan PD150 with a crop and I recently picked up this SOV150 Schmidt.

I saw that too and I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was a crazy price, especially since the seller wasn't selling it as a crop mark card. I watched the auction, hoping the opening bid would drop. Love those crop mark cards, still have to put a list together of the ones I have, not sure how many I have right now.

Jantz...and Johnny....

thanks for you diligence with these......I love them also, but traded a lot of mine away.....

I was seeing crop circles after a while:);)

Jantz and John, do either of you have an ideas why crops marks vary in length and width? The majority of the ones I've seen are a short thin mark
like this Ames but there are some like this Sullivan that are longer or heavier ones like Lake.

Pat....

depends on where they where positioned/cut on the sheet....

L = a full corner crop .......located in all four corners of the sheet.......then there are - marks on the front white borders(front alignment marks).......

the shorter "crops" where "cropped" off I presume......

these are just my theories I can be totally wrong here:o

Great observation Jantz. All pieces of the puzzle.

Pat - Honestly don't know the answer to your question. I'm assuming there is some form of pattern to them.

Clayton - Thanks. Hopefully they are pieces leading us in the right direction. :)

Hi Jantz,

Thank you. I don't think any of the pieces will lead us in the wrong direction, it's observations like these-along with everything else, miscut cards, freaks, crop lines, plate scratches, etc.- that get us a little closer every time ;) I think at some point we will start to find some of the "missing links" out of all of these things, and the puzzle will start piecing together :D (at least I hope so).

Thanks for pointing this out, I think it's a great addition to the puzzle.

Hope all is well with you-

Sincerely, Clayton
