What is a fair price for a Amos Rusie Old Judge card graded SGC 40 (3)?

Graded SCG 40 (3)....I have came upon some money selling a few collectibles and thinking of adding this card to my 1887 Old Judge collection. Is 6000$ way to much for this card? How hard would it be to locate another card like this one I know he is considered a rare card in the set but I am new to this and wondering could another be had pretty easy if someone has the cash?

DON'T!

You've got 6k to spend on cards. Look elsewhere then ebay.

REA just opened and 6K can get some nice stuff. Just don't bid on what I want.:)

Thanks I will then wait for a better opportunity.

Is a Ray Demmitt T206 in SGC 30 (2) a OK buy at 1875$?

This guy is a board member and has it listed for cheaper on here because he wouldn't have to deal with eBay and Paypal fees.

Just spoke to him he said 1800$ off Ebay....my question is the Demmitt a good looking 2 or not...I know most of the Demmitt cards have bad creasing.

He's a trusted seller. I've bought from him without any Buyer Protection. I've bought many items on the BST without protection and have nothing but good things to say about it.

That Rusie is not a bad card. It has a decent image. But it is probably worth around half of that, about $3500. I will repeat that I would wait for the auctions to come around so you know that you have an underbidder and don't get taken for a ride. But what do I know???

If you are throwing that kind of money around for cards, I recommend vintagecardprices.com . It gives prior price on each card at each grade level sold at any major auctions (including eBay). Just make sure to take each price (particularly w/ OJs and low pop cards) w/ a grain of salt and understand the context of the sale to get a fair price.

This is probably going to help you out a ton in the long run, esp. If you are in the OJ collecting business. Also, for OJs, remember that the image quality often supersedes any numerical grades assigned by the TPGs. A poor contrast pink tint SGC 60 will sometimes sell for less than a clear image SGC 10 w/ back damage.

Put in a offer of 3250$ will see what happens most likely will not win it but will not go higher than 3500$.

I would highly recommend following what the other poster said and subscribing to vintage card prices. I have made the mistake of jumping at several cards along the way only to realize later that I likely overpaid. There will always be other opportunities to pick up Old Judge cards. I would check old auction prices, review the VCP, and learn the values before spending $6,000 on a card.

What is it about that particular card that makes you interested in purchasing it?

When bidding/buying/making offers, you should probably keep most of this to yourself
