1963 peel off instructions vs blank backs
 

after 10 years of requesting psa distinguish the 2, psa finally did so about 6 months ago....after trying to complete a master set instructions and blank...i realized that the instruction were far more common than the blank backs
now 128 have been either resubmitted for labelling or new submissions and 112 have instructions and 16 are blank backs
a 7 to 1 ratio...its amazing what the simple power of observation can accomplish...while not a very exciting topic
i think the prices will soon start being reflected as people need these for their master sets

PSA employees are not card collectors
 

While the employees are usually very nice, very few if any are collectors. They have ZERO or less appreciation for the nuances of different variations. I had to "pull teeth" for them to "recognize" the 1967 dexter and team variations! While I agree the blank backs are harder, I don't believe 7 to 1 is accurate. Do you happen to know why/how they were issued with 2 different backs? There are still plenty more variations to go. Let's keep at them!

dont know why there are 2 variations but without a doubt the 7 to 1 ratio will hold up....i searched many years to complete the blank back set...every pile of 100 peel offs that a dealer had you find 10 or so blanks and always the same players too
i understand some of psa with variations but thia variation is so ridiculously obvious that no knowledge of cards is needed to distinguish

I am of the opinion that there are actually 3 variations to this set.

The instructions version has what I call "hands up" and "hands down" variations.

While I expect that some of you will disagree with me on this "extra" variation, I'm confident that if any of you found a card where the back was printed both "right-side-up" and "up-side-down" you would call it a variation.

From my experience, I believe that the ratio of backs is approximately :

Hands Down - 60%
Hands Up - 30%
Blank - 10%

I think they just stopped inking the backs at the end of the run (or second run).
