A Very Nice, but Trimmed, T206 Cobb.
I was very interested to see where this Cobb would go for in last night's auction. I recall this card being offered as a "Buy-it-Now" item by a different eBay seller for around $10k(!).
The final closing price: $1424. Kudos to eBay user Prewarcardcollector for honestly advertising this card as "Appears lightly trimmed on top edge." Our hobby should support honest sellers like this! http://host.jwcinc.net/712533/brent/march/94_1_2b.jpg |
hmmm
I saw that too...I think it's trimmed in more than one place. Not a terrible price for "what it is!"

I always wonder what card trimmers would think if they could see or realize the money they were throwing down the drain by trimmming.... Its such a shame someone took a hack at this beautiful card.
I'm sure the owner tried to get PSA or SGC to grade it, to no avail. I wonder what a PSA 8 or SGC 88 would be worth ($$$$). |
Trimmed cards..
Also it was not only modern grade chasers that did the ol' trim job,but old time collectors. Back in the day oversized cards were often trimmed down to fit in sheets or albums...love to go back and tell the ol'timer who hacked my Magie to stop...LOL Some trimmed cards actually have some neat stories and history. http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...size/magie.jpg |
