Just landed my first Pete Rose rookie card. Pretty happy with this one. Not the best image because I do not have it yet to scan.

Just got this awesome 62 Willie Mays with a green tint. I am guessing it is a Super SSP.;)
|
Damn JB, where do you find these centered cards?! Another awesome pickup. I need to step my game up.

A few 75 Topps upgrades and 1 Red Man card bought off eBay. Cards have not arrived yet but I'll post pics any way.
I've been looking hard for a well centered 75 Topps Mike Schmidt. This one has a small mark on the bottom left corner but it was priced right. I nearly gave 3X as much for 1 just like it but without the small mark. The 1952 Red Man is miss-labeled as a 1954. |

Just picked up these two this week.................

Woh!! Great cards Phil!!!

Thanks, Rob.
Cool Rice auto rookie as well. |

Really nice cards, guys!
Russ, I need to get some more of those '75s. Even if I'm not doing much right now, a couple graded '75 stars will scratch that itch I have for a little while longer. So close now to my goal. :D |

Amazing that Red WIlson could sign given that he had no right forearm!

Here is my latest mail day from SGC. I love the display of the 56's with the black borders. Getting another shipment together as we speak.
|
This is a weird little lot I picked up on ebay. 1950 Callahan. Bought these on a whim for $150. What surprised me was that the Chandler card was included, which seems to be one of the key cards of the set. Don't know if I got screwed or not, but I actually like these little cards, even though no one else seems to!
And no, that's not my bed. And yes, it does seem a little creepy! http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/z...psbe2db634.jpg http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps35ea656e.jpg |

This is not exactly a February pickup, but it did just come back graded nicely from PSA.

A couple of 1969 rookies

Nettles is one of the guys that just doesn't get talked about enough... surprising for a Yankee..
|
I am really pumped over this one. The centering and the absence of damage on the red corner really please my eye. Have two now but no problem hoarding centered Micks!

This was the last card I needed to have every basic Topps issue of HoF'ers with rookie cards from 1952 forward.

this one arrived friday.
By far the most I've spent on one card. As I wrote in another thread, I'm still trying to come to grips with that, but I'm very happy to have it! This is the jpeg from the listing. The card in hand is just as bright and colorful as the scan shows. |
Nice one Tony. I was eyeballing that one. I'm finding it hard to put aside money for that card when there is so much other stuff I want.

Matt, that 53 Topps Mantle is really sharp looking. Hard to find a copy like that dead centered!
Tony congrats on the 52 Mantle! That card seems to be growing in value day by day. Love the color on it! |
Beautiful card Tony! Congrats on checking that one off the list. You don't get much nicer in a 1.
|
Tony-- outstanding card. Must feel great to admire it. I have that image on my laptop desktop, my desk, my phone, even my coffee table. Top of its grade as well. The central image and near even borders hit the eye so well. Congrats!
|
Beautiful Mantle Tony, now that's a "poor" example worth spending a little extra cabbage on ;)
When it comes to the 52 Mantle the cleanliness of the image itself is most important. Too many faded and washed out fronts on the market out there. Nice get my friend. |
Thanks Everyone!
I was slightly hesitant to pull the trigger, but felt like I was getting a fair price (in the current market anyway). All of your good words help me justify..... Happy Collecting :) |

And also the hardest third of the answer to the trivia question: Which three Los Angeles Dodger personalities played a sport other than baseball for Michigan State? |
Quote:
4 Gold Gloves 1 MVP 1 runner up to MVP 1 NLCS MVP Played 7 seasons in a row without missing a game. 4 NL Pennants 1 World Series 2,599 hits .294 Lifetime BA 1308 RBIs Before the steroid era this was the resume of a HOF player. |
And it's even better than that for Mr. Clean. His 1984 WS vs Detroit gave him a second NLCS MVP and a fifth NL pennant.

Pee Wee Reese
A recent pickup from a fellow net54'er. Also, a personal favorite card of mine!

Thanks Steve. It's one of those cards that should be in everyone's collection. The picture is amazing and while the card may be overrated (not in my opinion); is there a better action shot out there???

A mix of stuff waiting in my office after several days on the road.
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...a69185065c.jpg The comic books and Ernie Banks card were from a cartoonist I met at the Ernie Banks statue. Yours for a little more than a stamp at his Etsy site-- https://www.etsy.com/listing/2139944...ue-2-portraits The Rice and Reggie cards are two of my favorites from the 1978 Topps issue. The Reggie captures his greatest moments as Mr. October, and the Rice card was from his MVP year, easily one of the five best offensive seasons of the 1970s. And the Alston is the ninth of 24 cards I need for my 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers team set. As a math nerd, I love the cartoon on the back. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...4e17a3e8b0.jpg |

Another mid-grade Red Man.

Nice Palmer RC. He is one of the lucky ones, of that era, who did not have to share his RC with other players.

Nice looking 75 Winfield for the grade.

Stan "Musical" RC
1 Attachment(s)
I finally finished my Stan "Musical" (as my wife calls him) display. It took me 2 years to find (and win) a decently centered 48 Bowman.
I'll post the display when I get a chance. Dan |
Nice pick up, Dan.
Yes, please post some shots of the display for the board to admire. |
Great Winfield and Stan The Man. Both would look right at home with higher grades, too. Both are really slept on great cards: the Winfield for its amazing colors and the Stan because he was truly one of the very few best to ever play the game-- I always have felt he doesn't get the props he truly deserves from a hobby standpoint.
|
Congrats on completion of your Stan Musial display. Looking forward to seeing it.

I'm just glad there are so many dummies out there who don't even look at the card condition and only look for PSA and a number beside it. |

Just copped this insane Mays from Sean. The 51 Mays just does not routinely get found with this centering. http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...an-willie-mays |

Very nice Winfield Auto RC, Rob.

Ted is one of my favorites. The Aaron rookie doesn't display the type of centering I usually go for, but the price was right and I like it.
