Historical/Political autographs and memorabilia. Currently own a Napoleon, George III, Trotsky, Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, James Madison, Monroe, Jefferson Davis, and some other autos. Have owned a Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, as well. I'm slowly building a Signers of the Declaration auto collection (currently, I have 5 of the 55..it'll take a while). Also, I just acquired a service testament of Sergeant Major George Wiley of the 1st VA Regiment. He served under Washington at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777 and is an ancestor of mine...I'm proud of that one.

I also try to pick up a souvenir pin as well. They're small, colorful, inexpensive, easy to store and display. Take up no space. Smaller than the coffee mugs I was collecting. |

I use to have a large collection of vintage toys. Paired it down considerably years ago. I Kept the ones I liked the most, mostly character Tin Wind-ups. Haven't bought one in years.
You can see most of whats left of my collection on link below. Sorry about the blurry pictures, I had a cheap digital camera at the time. http://imageevent.com/ruckers/vintag...88qxh4.camel_s |

I also collect concert posters (mostly Dave matthews band)... - Dzolot |
Boy scout patches and neckerchiefs from order of the arrow lodges, camps, and National Jamborees (pre 1970). These can rival baseball cards in terms of collector enthusiasm. Some OA patches are worth more than 30,000.00. I also collect almost anything boy scout related from the first decade of scouting in the US (1910-1920) as well as some camp patches from New England and New York. I am always curious if anyone else collects this, or if anyone has their childhood stash they might be interested in trading or selling.

-Anything Simpsons. I have a complete master collection of Playmates Simpsons line from a few years back. Easily the coolest toys ever. Value is nonexistant except for a handful of figures that are difficult to find.
-Pallisades Muppets line. Nearly a master set but I'm missing one collectors club figure...I can't stand Gonzo and they put out one too many Gonzo figs. So I'm missing that fig and also the ultra rare Kermit and Piggy wedding set. It was a freebie giveaway to the guest at the wedding of one of Palisades VP's and thats the only way you could ever get it. And I'm not forking over $350+ for a figure(was selling at over $900 at one point). Still many of the exclusives were limited to 250-1000 figures and a few of the later items are very difficult to get. So lots of figures or sets that sell currently on ebay in the $50-300 range. Not that I'd ever sell, not to mention that I opened lots of stuff(though not the exclusives or variants). -McFarlane Sportspicks...I love these and probably have 100 or more. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...2009/photo.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...009/photo6.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...009/photo7.jpg Price on these has gone up to where they are now an untenable $15 plus tax at TRU, but fortunately greed is not lost on the dealers at Frank and Sons and so many of them crack case after case looking for that big insert variant score. And they sell off the rest at $8-9 each with no tax. Thrilled to have somewhere local to buy my favorite players as even Dodgers and other hometown teams seem to have no markup. |

Although I have not owned a Bull Terrier [THE Greatest breed ever :)] in 12 years :(, I still have my quite nice BT book collection (~50 books).
Highlighted by a Derrydale, although most Derrydale collectors put Briggs' book at the lower end of rarity/collectability: Attachment 85935 Also a favorite of mine, is the quite politically incorrectly titled Hogarth genetics book. It's filled with many/most "colored" BT pedigrees of the early 1900's. I love pedigrees and color coat genetics, and this has it all. Although his main color genetic conclusion is incorrect: Red x Black = Brindle. Actually what was seen as Black were Blacks carrying Brindle underneath. The when crossed with a Red, the Black was removed to reveal the Brindle (that's very elementary explanation, it gets very complicated). Attachment 85936 Funny (sad) thing is the values of these books have dropped significantly from when I bought them. In the "old" days you had to hunt old book stores or go to dog shows to pick them up. Today with ebay, amazon, and abe, the are more readily available. |
Besides collecting vintage cardboard, I'm a true WIS (watch idiot savant). Love collecting Swiss watches, mostly Omega and Jaeger LeCoultre. Also collect sports memorabilia from my favorite teams (Ravens, White Sox, LA Kings)

Heavy Metal
I don't exactly "collect" them (anymore) but I have hundreds of heavy metal shirts, tickets, albums (vinyl) and 45s. Slayer, Exodus, Megadeth, Metallica, Yngwie, Sweet Savage, Holocaust, Mercyful Fate, Dio, etc.
One of these days I should take pictures and do scans of them all. Doug |

At one time I had a pretty nice collection of Metal vinyl albums, used to make trips to Rasputins on Telegraph Ave. to find the "good stuff" :D Sincerely, Clayton |
Quote:
Although, Rasputin's was closer to the Berkeley Keystone (and maybe Ruthie's Inn) than either of the other two were to any metal clubs. |

Nice to find a couple "metal heads" on here. Did either of you collect NWOBHM at all ?

cassette tapes, specifically hard/metal music. i currently have over 300 tapes ranging from annhialater (sp?) to zera (4-song ep from a local band, late 80's). also including a first-printing of haunting the chapel-sealed.....
ps: i'm currently looking for a grim harvest box set on cassette tape, if anyone knows where such a copy may exist (grim harvest= metal massacre's first 12 volumes in one boxed collection, had it on cd, now looking for cassette version). --kilo |

The backstory on the collection is that my father's company handled the public relations for the Academy for a long time. He and my mother had to attend the ceremony and banquet every year so I ended up with a run of about a dozen years of tickets from what they brought home to me. Then I started chasing the others like cards. BTW, on the T-shirts, I've seen some of the older ones selling for pretty good bank, so get some cedar into the storage! I know you're in L.A., so you might want to check out this used clothing store in Studio City on Ventura Blvd. that has some concert T's framed up and is asking pretty strong prices on them. I forget the name of the place but it is in the stretch between Whitsett and Laurel Canyon. |

So, I don't collect anything metal anymore, but still listen to it alot. Do you collect NWOBHM items? Sincerely, Clayton |

I don't buy many NWOBHM items now (unless I find something cool), because I have a ton of that stuff, albums and 45's, plus some other goodies, like 2 Diamond Head tour books. I also have a bunch of Maiden's early singles (7" & 12"), including the Soundhouse Tapes. Matt |
Vintage toys love them

Interesting Adam, I too find your ticket collection very interesting. Not that I'm going to start a collection, but what a beautiful gathering of some rare tickets with common theme. Well done.

Collector of Collections
When I was younger (mid-teens) my father called me a collector of collections. I dabbled in almost everything (US coins, stamps, Coke bottles, Matchbox cars, US state pennants, antique militaria, etc.). As I have matured (and accrued adult financial responsibilities - i.e. children), I have trimmed it back to baseball cards of course and Russo-Japanese War miltaria, antique sea going paraphernalia (sailors sea bags, bosun pipes, marlinspikes) and my 1963 Mercury Comet Station Wagon. I know, still pretty wild in range but still all close to my heart.

I didn’t have my truck with me but my mustang convertible…and the only way I could get it home was set it in on the back seat with the top down….so there I was the rest of the day driving around with it sticking out of my car. Everywhere I went people were looking…..then that night as I was driving home on the freeway a highway patrolman started following me…They stuck with me a little while then passed me and took off…The thing looked so real that at night the cops must have thought it was a pony in my back seat until they could get a good look to see it wasn’t moving LOL… |
