Epps 08-15-2023 12:52 PM

I got smoked on the T207 Weaver, Weaver and Felsch auto balls, and the Old Mill Cicotte. Thankfully was victorious on the M116 Cicotte though, so not all bad.

Glad to get a 1928 Lou Gehrig sheet for under 2k and the Wright N173 has been one of my favorites for a long time. I think the 15 minute per lot close works really well as most bidders are ready to bid come midnight Eastern Time.

JC, was that you I was battling in extended bidding? If so, I need to cost you $15k+ next time around!

Nice pickups.

Thanks Ryan and Brian. Ryan, I think there was 3 way action on it, which makes a good floor for value. I was hoping you went to bed early on Sunday nights!

Interesting. I hope there were 3 of us, but what makes you think that? At around 11:15, I went back and forth, with I think one person, bidding 5-6 times over like a 10 minute period. Then, once extended bidding started, I had a smaller version of that for like 2-4 bids, and then, later in extended bidding, I had to re-up several times against someone who would let the clock almost run out before they bid.

And random thought, but The D304 Wagner is really an ugly card with a bad likeness, i love the set but not that card so much. Maybe I am just jealous that I dont own one!?

Am in agreement with you as to the general aesthetic of the D304 Wagner. It's a gloomy looking card. Don't know what compelled me to buy one many years ago. Maybe I thought it would suffice as a poor man's T206 Wags. I sure as heck wouldn't pony up five figures for one, especially with the fatal flaws of a creased face and centering so off kilter. I'll throw my D304 into the marketplace in a couple of years as I phase out of the hobby and grow old and die, and hope that prices stay crazy. Wish I had held off selling the Voskamp Wagner I had a year or so back. It was a great card and rare as they get. Somebody out there ought to be smiling.

I also was only 2/6 being outbid on T207 Weaver and W. Miller, among others. Did pick up Lowdermilk to complete the Anonymous Factory 3 back run of 50 (Broadleaf-class).

Seemed like the 50s 60s and 70s shoebox collections went thru the roof unless I did the math wrong. Thought I was strong on a few but got smoked.

Lowdermilk is a great card, congrats.

Cannot believe THREE Lewises were in one auction.

I was able to add this 1915 Cracker Jack card to my set. Super happy!

Nice Andy, super clean card.

I lost out on a few, but secured these two.

Beautiful Wright JC!! It was nice to see the Foxx rookie getting some love!

Thanks - and yeah, three Lewis cards at once - not the best, necessarily, for the sellers.

The T206 Cobb green PSA 5.5 went for 33,600 w/BP. Seemed low, but the centering t/b at 30/70 to 25/75 neighborhood (l/r nice). Curious what you think centering % t/b ? And how much did it cost the card, $10.k ?

L/R is 56/44, T/B is 82/18

I don't think the centering has much to do with it. Green Cobbs in general have dropped off quite a bit from a couple of years ago, more than almost any other pre-war card of note. I picked up a nicer SGC 1.5 for $7500 (as we all know, key cards of key players only go up up up!). I'd be lucky to get $4500 for it today.

I have noticed green Cobbys come down a little too.
