Default T206 Plank

Does anyone have an opinion about this T206 Plank, which is currently being auctioned at SCP? I have included images of four others of similar grade that have sold recently:

What do you think about it in terms of attractiveness, how it compares to others of comparable grade, what you think it might sell for, etc.

The SGC 40 on the right sold recently for about $77k.

ok, just wanted some clarification...

here goes:

it would only grade a "2" from either PSA or SGC, due to the horizontal wrinkes right across the middle. it is also faded compared to the others.

the SGC 3 was a VERY strong 3, i am sure the winner of that card was/is hoping to get it into a "4" holder.

this offered example is a "weak" 3, IMO.

hammer price: $35,000-45,000?

Assuming the faded look of the SGC on the right is a poor scan....

I would say it is the nicest of all of the examples shown.

The SGC on the left is a little out of register (blue) and has something going on with the top left border area.
The first PSA is a bit too OC top to bottom.
The second PSA is pretty nice.... really nice (maybe second best of the group).

The GAI one is really nice as well... although the creasing near the face slightly bothers me.
Michael is probably right - - maybe a 2 from other graders.... or a weak '3'.

As far as pricing - I would have no idea. A lot of $$$.

All-in-all its funny that I (we) can sit back and pick on any one of these cards.
They are all beauties.

The more I look at Plank T206s... the more I think it might be the nicest (or at least top 5) nicest cards in the set (talking about looks / not value).

If I could chose one of those, I would take the PSA 3 on the right. The SGC 40 on the left has great eye appeal on the front, but paper loss on the back.
I think the GAI 3 is a great looking card! I agree that the wrinkle would probably make it a PSA 2 /SGC 30. That is probably why it was left in the GAI holder. But it is a clean, nice example!

As with any 150 versus 350 series T206 there is a huge difference in color and sharpness. One with a trained eye can tell the series from the front alone. Planks are no different, the pale fuzzy ones are 350 series, the bold blue, well focused ones are 150's.

Gonna test my new scanner

Guess which one is the 150?

Scott

Scott,

The 150 on the left is from the SCP auction a few years back isn't it?

Great cards.

John
