It's from the 1922 e120 American Caramel set. Have never seen that back before -- my guess is that it either has paper glued to it, or was otherwise rebacked.

I think it is authentic. A worn American Caramel, that was pasted to paper or card stock. I think it would soak and the card would separate. But you'd be left with a worn card.
