Default Gold E98?

Posted By: Mark T

I know the seller and have done business with him. I don't think he is trying to fool bidders. I believe he may even be a net54 member.

I know i am a little bit color blind, but it does seem to look Gold. Maybe just faded Orange.

I know but in the E98 Mclean description he states it as a Gold Background.

Ha,Ha...the more i look at it, seems like its an Orange color. I am slightly color blind to certain colors so i guess my eyes are playing tricks. I should just email him and let him know. I am surprised he described it as a Gold color. The seller is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to vintage cards

The seller is a board member and a gentleman I know pretty well. He has been collecting longer than myself that's for sure.....I think it could be called orange too....Or I guess gold....

Dave- I don't think it's trimmed....those sides and tops match fairly well...and E98's seldom have the large borders so prevalent in other series

He has bought a few cards from me and is a very nice guy.

I thought for a second there was a new color to the E98 set. I will just email and let him know.

Leon...you can just delete this thread if you wish.

Out of the folks that visit the board every day I assure you that at least a few will now remember the Gold E94's will be quite rare and the orange/gold E98's not as much....Not a bad thread....I would love to have a gold E94 but last time one was on ebay someone got it shut down and bought it before the auction ended...it was only a few months ago. The guy didn't know what he had and most likely sold it way under where it would have gone if he left it up till end.....I don't feel sorry for him and am happy for whomever got it...

I bought a very nice E94 Gold SGC 30 from Brian Mcqueen last year. It looked more like a SGC 60. I sold it to fund other cards but i think back and should have kept it. Oh well, we have all been there.

On my monitor, the card looks more orangish than gold. While it's nothing spectacular, I really like that color in e98s though. The diamond cut is something you see in a lot of e98s. That sort of a cut seems to occur in the oranges, coincidentally, the most often.

I don't know if I'd say that e94 Golds are all that rare. As far as e94s go, I'd put golds in sort of the middle in terms of rarity. I would say the purples/violets and olives are tougher. Gold e94s are SHARP though in my opinion and I wouldn't mind having a few of those to display together on my site

In terms of rare e94s, you might be thinking of the orange backs as the ones that are really scarce? I don't know if I'd call the golds "rare" as they're certainly around. The oranges are toughies for sure and I don't even think there's enough of those to complete one whole set.

And of course, we all know that the grey/silver e94s are the scarcest of 'em all!
