Settling old problem with forgeries

I mentioned this a while back, but it's now obvious I'm not going to hear from the perpetrator and want some advice on action to take.

Back in March I purchased two postcard forgeries for $240 and was later told that one of them was a forgery when I consigned it for selling in May. I had not examined the other one closely up to that point, but upon doing so I could see that it was also a forgery. The seller did not respond to my email request for a refund. I was told by board members that the seller was out of touch for a while, but I think it's been long enough.

Advice on how to proceed?

Have you tried contacting his brother (same email addy as his) and asking him by his name to help? I imagine you have but this seller has always made good in the past. We know he's been on a few year sabbatical and his brother has taken over for him....regards

...and using the same email address, then he received my email and ignored it. Not sure what to do next, send another email? How long to wait before doing something more drastic? I'm looking for thoughts here - sounds like you recommend my sending another email.

I know it takes up to 2-3 weeks for a response. My recommendation is to try Jeff, his brother, again and state that this is somewhat of an emergency and the authorities might be your next stop, but you don't want to have to do that. Let him know that you just want to be treated fairly, give him a week or so, then let us know. This is just a suggestion but is what I would probably do....good luck and keep us informed....

Good suggestion - it's done.

I'll email you when I hear more, but I'll keep it off the board. I was just looking for advice and have no intention of turning this into another board circus, even if the resolution is that I'm screwed.

Something else you can do is bookmark this thread and threads with past posts you've made that mention this subject. This might help substantiate the claim when he returns from his absence. Somehow I think you probably already figured that one out though...

For those of you who are contemplating purchasing photo-related material from Frank, I received this communication from him yesterday (David - I'm sure the forgers out there would love for you to add this bit of information to your guide on detecting RPPC forgeries.):

"In future you may want to do more research before jump to conclusions.
A real photo postcard is impossible to counterfeit without the original
negative"
