I hope none of you are bidding on this fake, the brunners bake only comes in green print, not black.

First, hello to the group. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and enjoying the threads, just was afraid to stick my toe into the water. I've been a collector for over 40 years and have a decent collection of cards and sets from the 50's up. I also have more vintage items, including a complete set of T212-1911, some OJ's that unfortunately have been skinned, and some other stuff that would qualify as vintage.

Wanted to respond to this thread tho. I've had D304's and still have a couple that have been in my collection for well over 20 + years. I'm fairly confident they are original and legitimate. The few I have left have black (dark brown?) printing on the back. The few I've sold on eBay have also had black (dark brown?) backs. If the green back statement is an absolute, I'd appreciate knowing.

Again, I've enjoyed the group and hope to periodically add my comments, if that's ok.

Yes, it's fake. I have one that looks just like it that I bought as real about 5-6 years ago. The ebayer said I could trade it for other stuff he had but I never got around to it. I decided to keep it as a reminder of what a fake looks like, albeit it an expensive one. I paid $40 for it as BIN ....and back then it was probably an $80 card....the back center is the most obvious....it's too white and the aging around the sides looks ...well...fake.....regards

Wow, the seller has the LaJoie, a T-206 Wagner and a 1951 Bowman Mantle rookie. All with 1 day listings (less chance that eBAY will do anything since it is Thanksgiving?).

I have E-mailed the seller asking why they didn't list these under the reprint section or at least state that they are/might be reprints. I am waiting to see what, if any, response they have.

Where is scammersrevenge when you need him/her??

I just love the way the Lajoie card has that "burnt look" around the edges.

Hey Jack,
The herzog and kelly that I won from you on ebay do have dark green backs.
It's kind of hard to tell sometimes.

Jack, can you put a scan up of your black and dark brown brunners backs? I would bet large coin that if the backs aren't green, the cards are bad. Dan.

....save your large coins. the 2 card backs i posted above were the ones Jack had seen as brown, when they are in fact green. I suspect that incandescent light may have made them look "less green".

...but of course, I'm usually wrong.

I think the eyes' ability to see color must be the second thing to go when you get older. My other D304 backs look like the two posted above.
