Default San Francisco Chronicle Newspaper art

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy

Received this huge 16 1/2" X 21 1/2" 1909 San Francisco Chronicle newpaper cover today, which should fit well above my PCL display case.

It will look nice matted and framed. It is ,however, super thin. Anyone had experience with getting something this fragile framed?

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

Great piece. Make sure that a museum quality framer does the work for you. You want UV coated glass to protect it and a matting that will not sap the color. If you are interested, I am in the DC area and have a couple of real pros (do work for Smithsonian, Library of Congress etc), so call me at (703) 558 3699. I am actually looking for pre-1920 baseball related cartoon art as well.

Nice piece Patrick. Is it the original drawing for the cover, or from the newspaper?

Frank, here's a link to some of my old baseball cartoons/paintings on my flickr site

Thanks for the responses gentlemen.

I plan on having a professional do the work on framing this piece. I have a beautiful period oak frame that I have been saving for just this occassion.

Here's the eBay auction:http://cgi.ebay.com.my/1802225S-COVER-ART-HERSHFIELD-Baseball-1909-MAGP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ390032293710

It's an actual huge newspaper from 1909 that was postmarked to Stanford University.

Thanks again,

Patrick
