Thanks for posting that. Dan, well done. Your Dad had some nice old cards, and he passed on to you not only some great cards, but also the concept of stewardship / temporary custodian aspect of collecting. Your Dad wasn't investing in cards, he was investing in his relationship with you. Well done, Dan; and well done by your Dad.

I guess we'll have to start calling you "Mister" Jackass.

I kid you, my friend. Lovely piece and great move wearing the advertising shirt on air. Can't beat free publicity.

Thanks Dan! A great hobby piece. Appreciate your willingness to speak about your collection and what collecting means to your family. I too had a father figure introduce me to the world of collecting at a young age.

It is time to play 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.'

Okay, in step one we have Dan McKee to Caroline Foreback. Who can continue the connection from Caroline Foreback onward?

Very nice piece Dan. Dans father is wise, we are just temporary custodians of these pieces of cardboard, jerseys, autographs, game used bats and all the stuff that packs our house.

The Dan McKees, father and son, represent the finest the hobby has to offer. They and their ilk are a powerful refutation of the complaint that this hobby of ours is just a bunch of money-hungry scammers and hucksters. I know it was a Baltimore theme, but they didn't even mention Dan's collection of Walter Johnson cards, without a doubt the best in the world! Loved your Dad, Buddy, and love you, too!

Default Dan McKee

In the 1980's, I first met Dan's Dad at the Willow Grove Show in Pennsylvania. A great man, and with him was a young Danny McKee.

.

Circa 1995, my first card sale to Danny was a dozen 1933 George C. Miller cards (one of Dan's favorite sets).
There is an interesting story associated with this sale.

In recent years, Dan and I share a booth at the three Philly Shows (in Oaks, PA). We offer an eklectic selection
of vintage cards (and memorabilia) at very reasonable prices.

Plus, we love talking Baseball and BB cards with you guys. And, those two topics are for FREE
