SGC has graded it 9, but on the label it indicates sheet cut. I am not too familiar with this set or the 'sheet cut' designation. Does it mean that this card was cut from a sheet post-production? Is/was there a full sheet of T204 previously known? And is it typical for a card that has been hand cut from a sheet to receive a numerical grade?

Questioning minds have some questionable questions.

Not sure about SGC, but my recollection is that PSA will give numerical grades for items "intended" to be hand cut. Think 1962 Jell-o and individual Bazooka items. And for items intended to be factory cut, if they are hand cut from a sheet, then you only get Authentic as your grade.

Although at times, it seems like they stray from that approach.

You mean like on the very first card they graded?

I guess they had to get it out of their system early.

I must be jaded. A number of the high grade major cards look a bit narrow or short to me.

Yes, but don’t you see the “9” or “10” on the slab?! By acquiring this trimmed card a corporate entity will say I have the best copy there is, which makes me feel good and superior to other collectors.

How would a grader know if a card is sheet cut versus trimmed? Will they take my word for it? Just wondering.

Right on. Up it is. If the recent past is any indication, your odds seem pretty good, at least directionally speaking.

Just once, for one of these auctions with this type of material, I would love to see a list of the consignors.

Much about the hobby is designed to protect them.

Sometimes I wish I collected T-206's, I find my vision starting to blur scanning past 500+ T206's to see if there is a few E-card offerings...

If you made millions hacking up cards with impunity you wouldn't go away either.
