Default 1958 Topps Questions

Going through the few cards that I have for the 58 set, I notice that it is hard to find cards in exmt to nrmt shape. I got a bunch on Ebay and I have plenty of 53 to 56 Topps that seem to have held up much better over the years. They remind me of 57 Topps in that the borders tend to tone more than 54,55,56,and 59 on up. Anyone else notice this?

Default 1958 Topps card stock

it is well known that the 1958 Topps card stock was inferior overall....however when you can find very high grade 1958 Topps cards, they can really pop with eye appeal

Bob---while that card does really pop with eye appeal on the surface I can not help but think inferior stock may lurk below

Sort of like dating a stripper? (I did not mean to offend anyone who is or has dated a stripper)

Turns out you were right. I cracked it out, pealed off the top layer, and lo and behold, a worthless scrap of below-average cardboard lay beneath.
