Default ID Help: Paul Thompson Photo

The back says Wagner - I think that is wrong.

It does look like Tinker.

Dressed to the Nines doesn't show this exact uniform combo for anyone from 1900-1920, but the 1909 Cubs fits --- except for the socks. Andrew A is fairly confident that the photo was taken at the Polo Grounds in 1911 or after because it seems to show white box seats (added to the PG in 1911).

Any thoughts???

My thought is that it isn't Wagner.

I can't say the player is Tinker, although the physical build is similar. No way the player is Wagner.

Right, well that seating was part of the structure when it was rebuilt following the 1911 fire.

Jobu and I agree it’s definitely NOT Wagner.

Looking at the road uniforms of NL teams in the early 1910's, it is definitely not a Cub uniform--the Cubs wore dark blue on the road 1911-1913. It appears to me to be a match for the Pittsburgh road uniform of 1913. I think it is probably Mike Simon:

You're onto something there. Good detective work. Here's Honus in 1913 at the Polo Grounds. Uni in the original photo does appear to be a match for 1913 Pirates road:

Thanks Ken, I think you've nailed it with 1913 Pirates road uniforms. Simon looks good but his ear seems to be quite a bit bigger than the guy in the photo's, though that could be a bit of perspective at play. We can definitely rule out my Tinker guess though, so that is progress! Thanks!

That is a great shot of his arms. No wonder he could hit.
