Default T205 DRUM and HINDU checklists (updating)....Show them, if you have them

American Lithographic printed exactly 32 - T205 subjects with DRUM backs. We know this based on a T-brand pattern presented 6 years ago on this forum.

A = B = C = D connection

. . . . . .

The key factor in this A = B = C = D equation is the Black American Beauty back. Note that the T205 subjects with the Green American Beauty back will
NOT be found with a DRUM back.

T205 DRUM checklist......possible 32 subjects (27 confirmed to this date)

James Austin
John Bates
Beals Becker
George Bell
William Bergen
Russell Blackburne
Albert Bridwell
Mordecai Brown
Harold Chase (border on shirt)
Frank Corridon
Thomas Downey
Louis Evans
George Graham (blue signature)
Buck Herzog
Richard Hoblitzell
Miller Huggins
Jack Knight
A. Latham
Thomas Leach
John Lobert

Briscoe Lord
Patrick Moran
Frederick Olmstead
George Paskert
Fred Payne
Edward Phelps
John Quinn
Lewis Richie
David Shean
George Stone
Zach Wheat
Harry Wolter

Subjects names in bold lettering have yet to be confirmed with the DRUM back.

However, they already have been confirmed with the A - B - C pattern. Therefore, I expect these 5 subjects will eventually be discovered with the DRUM back.

Please chime in if you can confirm any of these 5 guys with the DRUM back.... Thanks.

HINDU checklist with respect to their Team affiliation..... 23 subjects currently confirmed.

New York Giants
-------------------
Leon Ames
Josh Devore
W. R. Dickson

Cincinnatti Reds
-------------------

Richard Egan

------------------
Bayard Sharpe

Brooklyn Superbas
----------------------
Edgar Lennox

Chicago White Sox
--------------------

T205 Duffy with a Hindu back? I don't believe I have seen that one as up until now all I knew was that the only HOF'er known with a Hindu was Johnson.

Add Bransfield with a Hindu back to the list.

From an REA auction, NOT my card (I wish it was!): https://www.robertedwardauctions.com...re-hindu-back/

Hi Leon

I first posted a thread regarding T205 HINDU (and DRUM) cards back in 2014. It was then that I was informed of Duffy with a HINDU back.
However, I've been searching for the source of this confirmation and have yet to find it.

Stay tuned

Ted,

I bought this card at a Richmond Tuff Stuff show in either 1998 or 1999...can't nail down exact year but I remember the vendor was named Andy maybe trading as Andy's sportscards...something like that...I have always assumed it's legit but I have never submitted a card for grading and likely never will.

I already had the Stanage Hindu and already had a Duffy but I also wanted to have a Hall of Famer represented by each tobacco brand...finally got a Mordecai Brown Drum back a few years after the Duffy to have a T205 Hofer with each tobacco brand

Thanks for sharing the Hindu Duffy. I'm probably a few weeks away from finishing the newly updated T205Resource.com website with over 1000 pictures of nearly every known card. Since we are on the topic of Hindu's and Drum's, there are a few scans I'm still in need of. I'd appreciate any help. You can post pictures or scans here or email me directly at unclenacki@aol.com

Thank you. Those pictures are fine for now. Once the website is complete, if someone has a better scan than whats shown, they can then email me the new scans at that time and going forward also with new discoveries.

Thanks for always following up, Ted. There are some really great looking rarities in this thread. As an ardent, but out of it for now, back collector they are great to see.
These are from my previous collection although Cobby is making his way back tomorrow.

I'm giving this thread one more bump, hoping some one chimes in with some new data regarding DRUM and/or HINDU T205 cards.

And, especially a Huggins DRUM so I can complete this T205 A - B - C - D sub-set......

Or, a Lobert DRUM......

Default T205 DRUM and HINDU checklists....updating

American Lithographic (ALC) printed exactly 32 - T205 subjects with DRUM backs. Furthermore, ALC carried over their A = B = C = D template
from the T206 set by printing AMERICAN BEAUTY, BROAD LEAF, CYCLE, and DRUM backs on matching T205 subjects. This theory was presented
6 years ago on this forum. Refer to..... http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ght=t205+hindu

The key factor in this A = B = C = D connection is the Black American Beauty back.

Note that the T205 subjects with the Green American Beauty back will NOT be found with a DRUM back.

AB = BL = CY = DR confirmed check-list......

Default DRUM and HINDU checklists (updating)....Show them, if you have them.

Hey guys,

T205 DRUM cards don't appear to get the same respect as T206 DRUM's do. And, actually they are as scarce (if not more) than the T206 ones.

T205 HINDU cards are definitely scarcer than the T206 ones.

OK you T205 collectors, let's see some of these gems. The T205 DRUM cards are defined (32 subjects). T205 HINDU cards are not well defined.

To date, 23 subjects are confirmed with the HINDU back, I expect that more of these T205's will be discovered.

Default T205 DRUM and HINDU checklists (updating)....Show them, if you have them

Some nice DRUM's you have there. You could have fun going for a Hoblitzell run.

You are already way ahead of the game, with the DRUM and PIEDMONT Factory #42 backs. Nine of
the remaining 10 backs are relatively easy to find, and of course the BROAD LEAF will be a toughie.

But, then those silly variations ("No Stats", etc.) of Hoblitzell can drive you "nuts"

Default T205 backs

Happy New Year, Ted.

I was looking at some prior auctions of T205 Hoblitzell "No Stats" and all of the one's I saw had a Hasson Factory 30 back. Is there a Hassan 649 with no stats?

Here's a Titus with a Piedmont 42 back. It might be easier and cheaper for me to just do a Titus back run. Rob

Rob

Titus is not part of the A = B = C = D group, so this T205 will have less than 12 different backs to go for. So, Titus will be an easier and cheaper run.

Or since you have a nice DRUM of Wolter, why not try for his run. Having the DRUM of Wolter, is what started me doing a run of his cards. Besides the
BROAD LEAF and the PIEDMONT #42, the rest of his 9 backs are relatively easy to find.

Good luck in whatever you decide, I know you enjoy a challenge.

I forgot to answer your question regarding the "No Stats" back. I do not know for sure if the HASSAN #649 is found with the "No Stats" back.
My experience with putting together a 209-card T205 set in the late 1990's, is that if a HASSAN #30 was printed, so was a #649 was printed.

The 209th card in that set was the "No Stats" Hoblitzell, but I don't recall what back was on it. I sold the set many years ago.

Default T205

Ted, thanks for the info on Titus. I'm learning as much as I can about the T205 backs. This Sovereign is the only other Wolter I have. If I see a Broad Leaf black back I will let you know.

I would hate to have to pony-up for 2 no stats Hoblitzell's, if I had to buy a Hassan 30 and 649.

I went through my T205 cards today, and I'm at 94/232 going by AnsonW's checklist on prewarcards. My goal this year is to keep making progress on the basic set and adding a few to the backs runs. I'd like to add a Hindu this year as well.

I don’t think Hoblitzell exists with Hassan 649 in any variation.

I've only seen them with the Factory 30 back only. But I still continue to look.

Pardon me for reprising this post for one more try...…

About 3 weeks since I posted this request for the BROAD LEAF card of Wolter. I realize it's a "toughie", but I had
hopes that someone on this forum would surprise me with the BROAD LEAF to complete my A = B = C = D run.

I will give a reward of $100 to any one who helps me find this BROAD LEAF card.

Hi Ted, All I can help you out with is a scan of the front and back. I don't know who has the card in the scan unfortunately but it was sold in a Heritage Auction back in November 2010 Auction #7028.

Thanks Ron,

I'm a patient dude, eventually I will find this BROAD LEAF card. Meanwhile, I have completed a "virtual" Wolter A = B = C = D run by inserting your scan.

Thanks again, Ron.

I replaced my scans with your improved scans.

The A - B - C - D display of Wolter looks a lot better.

Here is the group that it sold in 10 years ago, maybe it will jog someone's memory. They sure got the lot for a nice price. Also, here's my virtual filler T213 Rhoades from Dave's Vintage...It's better than nothing...

Hey Rob

You and I think alike. Years ago, in the process of putting together my all - SOVEREIGN set, I'd insert xerox copies of T206's that were missing in my set in the pages of my album.
And, I would get a "kick" every time I replaced one of those xerox copies with the real T206.

This is just one of numerous ways we enjoy this hobby

Here is my updated Harry Wolter run.
I need only the two HASSAN backs, the HONEST LONG CUT back, and the ever elusive PIEDMONT Factory #42 back to complete this 12-card run.
