I hate to be that guy, but unfortunately a lot of the items you are offering are not authentic IMO. The Mantle pieces and the Yankee multi signed pieces that I saw are all off, sorry.

Brian, I would highly suggest you terminate this thread.

There is a lot of bad stuff there.

Example: These are mass-produced "Florida" forgeries printed on inkjet paper.

This is just horrid. I hope you didn't pay a lot of money for this stuff.

No I paid about $5000 for everything pictured and I figured some of it wasn't good. If anyone has any positive comments let me know. I am sure it isn't all bad.

One question....

Can you return everything and get a refund?

I have to assume that your plan was to turn that $5,000 into $10,000 or more?

Possibly, but not likely to do that, even with some bad stuff I should still do well and this is only part of the collection. Should be able to break even with just the PSA/DNA, Upper Deck and Steiner stuff.

JSA will be here in my area on June 22 and I plan to get some stuff authenticated. You haven't said anything is good yet, so not sure that I am 100% agreeing with your opinion until I hear more feedback. I posted on the opinion auto page. With that being said, I do not want to sell stuff that is definitely fake.

Yes of course. I buy and sell all the time and have been for years. Some looked like it might be fake, but like I said, I knew enough was good to break even and took a gamble on the rest. I would appreciate some additional useful feedback

Evidently you don't know autographs at all.

As for some "additional useful feedback (that you received for free)" you already got mine.

Let me add a second opinion. You have a lot of garbage there and by your tone you don’t seem to be concerned that you are offering forgeries for sale. Everything Chris showed you is garbage. You also shows lots of MLB holograms that are on photos. That hologram authenticates the image of the player, not the autograph on the photo. You clearly do not have a good eye for this stuff and should try to get your money back as Chris has suggested. If you think you’re going to make $5k back off of a Bucky Dent / Mike Torrez photo you’re mistaken.

There are a number of items that have separate MLB or Steiner authentication as I scrolled to the end of the photos. Honestly I initially stopped scrolling because there was so much bad stuff that jumped out. Quite a few items in the second half look like they are probably good. I still think you’re going to be struggling to get your money back or at least an uphill journey. I wish you good luck, but you should reconsider offering this group for sale.

Please do not attack or make smart ass comments.

I clearly stated that I do not want to sell fakes. I am not an autogrpah expert, mostly collect vintage graded baseball cards. This looked like a great deal, even with some fakes and I knew JSA was going to be in town soon. I will take the post down, but wanted to get some additional feedback that was available to educate myself and see what I was comfortable selling. In addition to what is shown, there are over 300 baseballs that are psa and jsa that I haven't listed. Several items are psa, upper deck and steiner such as:

Jeter jersey
Judge Ball
Bonds Ball
Garnett
Matsui
Montana
Harper
O'Neill

Finally I have a hard time believing all of the items that are not PSA, UD or Steiner are fake and was hoping someone could give some positive comments.

My question to you is if you know

"Some looked like it might be fake, but like I said, I knew enough was good to break even and took a gamble on the rest. I would appreciate some additional useful feedback

WHY DID YOU OFFER IT FOR SALE TO NET 54 MEMBERS prior to getting opinions or having JSA review it as you have stated. This seems to be going over your head as the comments we are making are only to prevent someone from getting bad product.

I think free opinion time is done. I'm sure JSA will be more than willing to help you sort it all out.

Ok didn’t know you guys would only offer so many free opinions. Maybe you should start charging. For your comment on why did I offer here thinking some might be fake? I was told by seller that they all were good and figured some would want to buy at a discount and get authentication on their own.

It is also annoying that all you hear is negative feedback and to receive positive feedback is like pulling teeth. This is exactly why I do not collect autos unless I saw the person sign and even then I have had items not pass psa.

I didn't notice one "discounted" price.

The forgeries I observed, even if authentic, were not "discount" prices.

Let me throw you my free advice. I have been in business over a decade and deal with a lot of autographs.

You were taken.

You bought a lot of bad stuff. The seller was happy to be rid of it and you’ll never see that money again. He’s gone and breathing a sigh of relief that you took it off his hands. If you want to throw good money after bad then submit them for authentication. Thousands more out the window if it makes you feel better.

Even if everything was authentic, the selling prices are unrealistic. I have sold many of the same items at way less. Some at half of the price or less. And that’s in a retail store with the items being 100% authenticated - not in an online forum with no overhead and mostly no paperwork.

I don’t know what to tell you on the positive end except to use this as a learning experience.

Appreciate the negative feedback, but you are wrong. Like I have said, this is not the entire collection and there are plenty of items that are good and will be sold to make a profit. I was hoping someone could be more specific on which items that did not have Psa or Steiner, but still look authentic.

As far as the prices go, I always like to start high and negotiate. I would’ve probably taken half for some of the items.

Here are my thoughts after almost 30 years of collecting: You have a lot of items with reputable sources. But so much of your high-end stuff is crap that I have no interest looking through the rest for "deals." Take everything that's not Steiner or UDA and submit it to PSA or JSA and bring the winners back to us. Consign the losers to Coach's Corner and get your money back, if you don't mind doing to others what someone did to you.

You don't seem to realize it, but your tone has offended. "Pulling teeth" just to get positive replies? When one of the most valued members has already helped you from embarrassing yourself with all those bad Jeters? How about being thankful so many have already taken the time to even look?

You're jerking around the most respected collectors around. You have a pile of overpriced, easy to find items riddled with turds. Nobody around here has patience for that. I'd suggest pulling it all, cleaning it up, and then posting.

Ken

You're jerking around the most respected collectors around. You have a pile of overpriced, easy to find items riddled with turds. Nobody around here has patience for that. I'd suggest pulling it all, cleaning it up, and then posting.

I am thankful. It is just annoying that the only feedback received is negative and not a single person has said any of the items look good. Maybe they are all bad, but not likely.

Also I do not appreciate the comments of everyone telling me I am going to lose money on the deal when they do not even know what else was included in the purchase. What I really would like is for someone to give their opinion on all of the items that are not PSA/UD/Steiner. I realize that may be too much to ask, but is what I was hoping for.

I don't know most of the Jeter and newer Yankee stuff, but Chris is the best at Jeter that I am aware of. If he says they are bad, they are bad.

I will comment on the couple items I do feel comfortable opining on.
The Mantles that I saw are all bad.
The Dimaggio and Williams MAY be good, but I would buy neither as they both look a little off to me.

Thanks!

I wonder if any of the Jeters or Rivera are good other than the Steiner Jersey? They are both also on a helmet and a team jersey. Are those worth having JSA look at? I guess at the end of the day I would like to know which items are worth having JSA look at. The rest I will probably just sell the frames.

I do not give opinions on autographs for many reasons. But can I ask... who is Garian Rivera?

Default my sincere opinion

I have read through this thread with interest and would like to offer a few words. Last year I bought two autographed photos, one Mickey Mantle and the other Joe DiMaggio. I posted them asking for opinions as I know next to nothing on spotting fake autographs. Luckily for me I got positive responses from other board members. Opinions on whether to authenticate, which I was considering, were also very informative and detailed.
Opinions by knowledgeable members, whether solicited or not are incredibly useful: they educate the seller either privately or publicly, who might be unaware the item is not genuine, those who give opinions often support their views with details and they help protect the hobby.
Brian, I sincerely wish you luck in selling your legitimate collection and recouping your outlay. As for the other please consider burning it off the face of the earth and protect the hobby.
For the scum who sell fakes I hope one day they will get their legal retribution.

I think this sums it up for you. First you say that you paid $5k for everything pictured and then tell us that we don’t know what else was included. I don’t know where to go with this.

I’m sorry you got burned. They lumped all of their bad stuff in and peppered it with probably some good stuff to make it appealing and you bought it. We’ve all bought some bad stuff. I’ve been burned a couple of times. It will take a lot of time and effort to make some money back with this. Take the advice you were given here. Throw out the bad stuff. Do what you can with whats left. Try to minimize your expenses involved. It’s not going to be easy. Good luck.

Thanks. Apologize if I was misleading.

The Williams is slowly drawn and is an all around poorly executed forgery, IMHO. The #9 inscription is rarely seen which would give me pause from the get go.

The "Jae" Dimaggio was friends with "Gauriano" Rivera another well known forgery style, IMHO.

So,
If I said I think the Paul O'Neil is good would that help?

I let the seller know all the negative feedback today and this is what he sent.

“My dad and I collected for years. I also worked at a high end memorabilia shop in the early 2000’s. If i wasnt trying to save to buy a house, i wouldnt of sold the items. The mantle stuff is real and it came from someone who knew him personally. Fred davies is the guy on mantle. He knows james spence well. Big league marketing was his businss. He was a pioneer in running autograph shows at the casinos in Atlantic city in the late 1980s“

What a bunch of BS from the seller, Brian.

You should send him a link to this thread.

In July 2017 Aaron Judge had just played in Seattle and hit a couple of home runs. He was the biggest thing in baseball. The next week a bunch of guys came to town from Seattle with Judge balls which they had gotten when he was there. JSA was in town that week and thanked me for giving them the only good Judge ball they had seen all weekend out of many. When people brought them back the guys doubled down and dig in with their story insisting that they saw him in person and got them all themselves. These guys brought a bunch of fakes to town with a great story.

Don’t believe the story. Believe the autograph.

This is sad Brian,

I can tell you in all honesty after looking at tens of thousands Mantle autographs on photos and balls, those photos are tell tale no doubt Forgeries. There is no mistake. Glad he knows James Spence well! LOL take them into JSA for a 100 per beating when they fail. He was a Pioneer selling fakes if he thinks those are real. Is his name Tony Podsada? Is this a joke? He can tell you he got them from Mickey himself and they are still fake. PERIOD.
