Default Hornsby Auto

Hi All,
Just came across this Hornsby Auto and want opinions. Compared the auto to others and it appears good, but would like opinions.
The owner said his father was a member of this Lions Club during this banquet and program has inside that Members of the Chicago Cubs would be guest speakers, but does not give any names. (Probably unknown Cubs speakers at time of printing).
I hope you don't mind me asking an approx. value, as autographs I usually do not dabble in. But this is tempting. I am guessing, looking at other autographs, that possibly $1200 to 1400 would be in the ballpark.
Thank You all.

That one is good in my opinion... I also think he is undervalued... I have seen cuts and gpc's close in the $4-500 range... My gut tells me this one would be in the same general vicinity...

Thanks Dave,
Would the year the autograph was signed make much difference??? Early 1930s compared to 1950????

I agree with Dave. Perhaps in the $400-600 ballpark. He is desirable, but not rare per se.

I'd say a slight premium on a playing days signature... Rookie era Hof signatures seem to be getting a lot of attention, and in some instances going for multiples of what a typical signature would go for...

Thanks Dave and Mark, I appreciate and respect your knowledge. I don't think the guy will let it go for $500 and I don't blame him, but I can give it a try.

.401, .424, .403 / 70 hits shy of 3k hits / .358 lifetime batting average... undervalued autograph/scarcity-wise (d. 1963)??? - I personally don't know (leaving it up to the experts) - but underrated as a MLB player = definitely.

nice piece!

I think what its on makes it good in the 500 ballpark. Something a little more desirable would definitely be more but I agree with what people are saying on pricing.

The auto looks good and considering what it is on I would not jump on it at more than $500. If you want Hornsby you can find more desirable items with his signature. The medium in this case is a deterrent to the price.
If the seller is insistent at $1000+ than his children will fight over it after he is gone.
btw - he was the hitting coach for the 1962 Mets. I have had a couple of signed 1962 Mets team signed balls with his autograph.

Thank you Richard, as I mentioned, I am not really an autograph guy, but I do not want to miss out on any opportunities either. I do like items where the players reached out to the public to represent baseball and/or support youth sports.

Thanks again.
