Default t206 prices in Hunt Auctions last night

Seemed to be some very, very strong prices on HOFers--especially since SGC generally seen as suffering now on value for these. Or are t206s HOFes exploding everywhere?

Interesting that a lowly SGC 4 for a Lajoie went for $2000--obviously from look of it someone thinks it was undergraded and must be a 6 or 7. However, as you know, Hunt does not show backs so you tell me....it would also be one of the great undergrades ever...

There were a few raw T206 lots I was looking at of commons that seemed to be VG-EX-ish that were going for $75+ per card, without even picturing all of the cards. I was very surprised at some of those strong prices....

I was very happy to finally land a nice clean Tinker portrait. I've been looking for quite a while for one of these. I used to have an SGC 70 that had a needle-point-speck of paper loss on his nose that I was fixated on, which I sold about 10 years ago. Hadn't found a suitable replacement until last night. Maybe spent a little more than I wanted to, but I also didn't want to wait another 10 years!

Overall, the prices were solid - but the SGC 55 Cobb Green seems to have gone cheap (based on centering, I would guess). I wasn't surprised by any of the prices as much as I was shocked by the SGC 50 Lajoie. I agree - at least two people think PSA will give it a 6 or higher, I guess. No chance.

I was happy to win the Cobb Bat On 4.5 for a price I thought reasonable. I was tempted by the 3, as it looked like a cross-over candidate, but I figured there has to be a reason it's graded like that, so little chance of a PSA bump.

Side note: does it feel like Hunt, and sometimes, Huggins, are a little "flea-markety?" I don't mean this in a pejorative way - it's just that they sell a little of everything, and sometimes you have to do little digging to find the diamonds in the rough. Like you just might find a nice 33 Goudey Ruth on the last page of the catalog right after a lot of 1990 Fleer boxes. Kind of makes it fun.

Totally agree, and I love the fact that each lot ends on its own terms. I had the Tinker by 10:45 and then could enjoy my evening afterwards!

In my opinion, those auctions get more action. It forces you to s**t or get off the pot!! No worrying about being a high bidder and falling asleep while a west coaster jumps in the middle of the night and steals your lot.

I always forget about this AH. It's just really hard to get that old Windows 95 PC to boot up so that I can use Netscape to browse their website.

That's what I like about Hunt. You have to work to find things. I know that I've bought a few items from them that I never would've seen had I not been scouring the pages.

I visit Hunt's everytime I can, always great stuff in it for every type of collector.
I placed a few bids and really loved the Gehrig stuff, especially the Worch Cigar. Just didn't have enough to go higher.
Yeah the downside is the -no back- pics, but I guess you could request one as I think some have done.
I have noticed, that Internet Explorer (on my laptop) has issues on placing bids, so I have to use Goggle Chrome in order to do so.

I have never bid with them, but find it shocking that they do not show backs!? Why would a professional auction company not show the backs of cards they are auctioning?

I wish I had paid more attention to this auction, the t206 prices in most cases were more than reasonable. The green cobb 4.5 for under 3k holy smokes what a deal, now i realize it was off center but i don't think you could go wrong at that price.

Takes too much time to scan a back of a card .

Default Green Cobb - P150 Back

I was looking at the Green Cobb as well but requested the back scans and Hunt Auctions is great delivering the data (thanks to Amy)... Once I got the back scan I was out.... Wonder if the buyer is going to be satisfied...

Though the back is off I still think the buyer got a deal in this market.

I finally emailed and asked when they were shipping last Friday. Got a tracking number 3 hours later. Their new catalog arrived before the cards from the last auction.

They still haven't cashed my check yet, and they received it on the 2nd. PS - I got a catalog as well...before receipt of cards and before cashing my check. It's very odd....been bidding with them for years and never seen it like this. Someone must have quit maybe?

I always pick up live. Everyone I know was still there. Actually had some new additional help in the warehouse.

Hmmm....that's very odd then....maybe the new help accidentally shipped my package to the wrong person? I do know they have another customer with my exact name there.
