Default Giants uniform question

I recently picked up this photo and its showing online that this particular style uniform was only used in 1916. Is that true? Hard to think anyone would wanna get rid of this much plaid..lol

Indeed it was, Joey. The uniform was expected to be met with a lot of good feelings - the NYTimes suggested they were the "high-water mark of baseball fashions" in January of 1916.

I guess they didn't go over that well.

I don't know about THESE specific duds, but i've read in a few contemporary newspaper articles that the New York Giants did occasionally donate their old uniforms to Sing Sing Prison!

That one-year style would be the ultimate Holy Grail, if it ever came to market. I personally think the plaid flannel is beautiful

They (and the A's) still do! San Quentin gets hand-me-downs from both clubs for their prison teams.

Plaid has always been under appreciated. Here is an early plaid uni I have that is one of my favorites.

Joe-

That is sweeeeeeeet!

Wish there were more of these around. Given their brief existence, I guess "Dead Men" really did wear Plaid!
