Default 1973 Bill Mastro profile in The Trader Speaks

Here's a profile of Bill Mastro that appeared in the January 1973 issue of The Trader Speaks. I'll let others make the jokes. He looks very much the same here as he does now, except with hair.

Default The mutation of a collector

I mentioned in the Keith Olbermann article post that it was impressive he had collected 468 T206 at such an early age of 17. And now we know Bill Mastro at 19 had already collected so many complete, classic Pre-War sets. Too bad he didn't just remain a collector at heart, and taken up another profession.

It's something of a tragedy that so much knowledge went either to waste or to satisfy the primal urge, "It's all about ME (and screw anyone else)." Mastro was the one that had recommended that Copeland buy the 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth minor league schedule card, that was auctioned off at $6,000 circa 1991. He was certainly thinking outside the box!

Regards to all,

Larry
