Default T206 Ty Cobb OLD MILL (Green Portrait) 1909-11 White Border [Reverse Auction]

T206 Ty Cobb OLD MILL (Green Portrait) 1909-11 White Border

I am selling this Ultra Rare T206 Ty Cobb (Green Portrait) with OLD MILL Back.
I recently had one of the head graders from SGC look at the card and he told me they would bump it up a half point and assign it a 3.5.

Currently in the PSA Population Report there are ONLY (7) OLD MILL Ty Cobb Green Portrait Cards EVER Graded!

The highest graded is a PSA 8 (which undoubtedly has been trimmed)
The second highest is the one I am selling, a PSA 3 VG.
PSA Certification # 24386658

This is a Reverse Auction.
Ultimately, I would like to sell via Paypal as a gift/friends or family, but I can do a normal paypal transaction but the buyer would have to pay the extra 3.5% paypal fee on top of the winning auction bid. Shipping and insurance will be actual cost, depending on what it sells for (insurance)

This is a serious item for serious collectors. You will not see another one for many many years, I'm sure of it.

I will lower the price everyday until I sell this card.
I do not have a set time when I will reduce the card, so if you are interested please be aware of this.
I am a filmmaker prepping to film a documentary about a baseball player and will use the funds to film the movie. That is the only reason I am selling this card, for the documentary. Ultimately, I thought I would be keeping this card for many many years stashed away.

If you want to know more about the documentary or want to contribute, please message me.

Thanks for your interest,

Ben

you just unilaterally emailed me about a price I would pay.....I would like to let the auction run its course....I thought that's why you have it at auction afterall...

deals typically fall through when there is a reverse auction going on...if we knew what price increments you were using that will help....maybe the guy that the deal fell through with will jump back in here when the card goes down closer to the price he wants to pay...maybe you think it will sell for more than he wants and that was why it fell through.....time will tell (if you really are planning to sell it here at auction)

I got a feeling this card will sell before we ever see a 'ill take it' here

I didnt ask you what you would pay for it?
I simply asked "what you thought it would sell for"

I noticed your comment on the Reverse Auction Forum. Please let me know if you are interested. You did comment, so I am sure you have some interest. Let me know. I was in negotiations, however, they fell through.
Thanks

B

this is what you said...when I said wait for the auction to run its course essentially THEN you did ask me what you thought it would sell for..

I assumed when you asked 'if I was interested' that it meant for me to make an offer...I apologize if I misunderstood... ..

if I was the seller I would want to know what people think it would go for publically to help strengthen a private deal as leverage...

but you thinking what it may go for isn't for sure what you would be offering....

if no crease/wrinkle on a good sgc day it could be a 4. 'corner wear, don't care' is SGC motto.

I have a few questions. Up to you if you want to answer.

1. What increments are you using to reduce the price each day?

2. If you skip a day, will you lower the price by 2 increments when you come back to the thread?

3. What payment method(s) will you be accepting?

4. Since this will be a high dollar sale, do you have any references?

5. If not, do you plan to use a reputable escrow?

"The highest graded is a PSA 8 (which undoubtedly has been trimmed)
The second highest is the one I am selling, a PSA 3 VG."

Isn't it the second highest THAT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED as Old Mill. Isn't it possible that there are some that are designated as UNKNOWN BACK???

"This is a serious item for serious collectors.
I will lower the price everyday until I sell this card."

Although I am trying, perhaps I am not serious enough for this item.

Isn't seriousness a two way street in a transaction like this? & seriously, how do you define "everyday"?

Paul C

Yeah, a quick search shows this PSA 5. Note that the sale is from 2008.

the original thread to sell the card was weird too...I think we would have the same type of auction if the lennox cobb was listed for reverse auction..

The seller made the rules. It was a serious auction. He broke the rules.
I am out and moving on. To me it's unimaginable to send payment when the auction rules are broken by the auctioneer.

I will lower the price everyday until I sell this card.
I guess he forgot to mention unless the price reaches a level he doesn't like.

I agree we should keep the negative comments off the thread. It's a great looking card. Good luck with the sale and your film.

At a minimum, there's some entertainment value here.
After all, that's what a filmmaker is after, right?

The oddest auction ever. I shall follow suite however. I have a 1952 Bowman Mantle SGC "A". it looks like a '7'. I shall start the bidding at $100,000.

This guy came on here and made a mockery of the board...twice. We don't know his name so we'll be unable to avoid him in the future.

Very frustrating.

If we went by the last two posts by the OP, it dropped $250 from the 2nd to the 3rd. Assuming he would continue dropping $250 a day until we had a winner, it would reach $1500 on November 24th. I suggest checking back in at this time to collect your OM Cobb.

Sean B. called it correctly in an earlier thread when he said that this guy "has no intention of actually selling this item."

Leon, Robert raises a valid point in my opinion. Whether or not this "seller" is banned from the BST board, we should know who he is. I think that you should require anyone who is selling anything on the BST to include their full name.

I know that you believe that the fewer the rules, the better. But in this case, I think that we should know who it is that is offering anything for sale.

Just my opinion....
