Default 1939 Play Ball Samples

Any have any experience buying/selling these? My 2007 Standard Cat mentions that commons sell for a slight premium and star players sell for about double (except Joe D and Ted) for non samps. However, I remember reading a couple of years ago this was not always the case and the stars usually don't go that high. Note: This is not a plug to hawk my wares here.
Thanks, Paul S

Paul,
Although I only collect HOF's from the 1939 Playball set, I have rarely ventured to the 39 Playball Samples. The Ted Williams is the only one I have seriously tried to obtain, and that card sold for about 10% more than the regular 1939 Playball. I have seen very few other 39 Playball Sample HOF's and there should be 17 or so different ones out there.

Dave, Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I have maybe 20 of them and maybe 5-6 are samplebacks. The Standard Cat says every 39PB in the "regular" set has a sampleback counterpart. Yikes!

I've only noticed a small increase in price for the sample cards over the years. I have maybe 10 or so and I never paid much more than I would have for the regular ones.
