Default I have acquired one of my Holy Grails

A photo album filled with baseball and football photos taken by a member of the Nebraska Indians baseball team...Making this even better for me the player was also the quarterback of the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 1914 and 1915 and there are also many photos of the football team. Another plus is the addition of many photos of Les Mann who was apparently a pal of the player who made the album (Max Towle)...further research has revealed that they went to high school together.

Some tough looking Nebraska Indian players wearing their caps at the train station

A team shot that I'd not seen before

Max also played for the Husker baseball team

Some Husker football shots

Hanging out with Les Mann (In his Springfield College lettermen's sweater) and "Doc" (haven't researched this fellow yet) in Kalispell, Montana

More shots of the Nebraska Indians

A shot of Buck Beltzer with his family - Beltzer was team owner and manager of the Nebraska Indians at that time

1918 Naval Aviation (Seattle) Football team...lots of former collegians on this team

A Lincoln company team (I believe Laundry company)

A couple semi-pro teams that Towle played with

A three legged race at the ball park

Got it on ebay...I've known about the existence of this album for a few years now..an article came out in a very short lived baseball history magazine called "108" in which there were some of the photos I've shown here in the magazine credited to the "Max Towle Scrapbook"...I was stunned to see this show up on ebay from a consignment shop in Canada. I actually tried to get the author of the article (Jeffrey Powers-Beck) to give me contact info for the owner of the album, but he wouldn't give it to me, and I understood that...I just figured it would be an item I would never see.

Yes, Dan, that album has found the right home. I admire the fact that when you chase multiple items, each one seems to you like THE Holy Grail. In my case, they seem like the labors of Hercules.

What do they put in the corn over there? One happy bunch of rubes, and great uniforms too. Congrats.

Thanks all...I've been extremely busy with closing one business and opening a new one so have had little time to hang out at Net 54 lately. I appreciate all of your comments.
