Thanks for the link.!

Cool story and a neat picture. Is that the borderless Wagner that was auctioned off for the nuns a short time ago?

"For now, just seeing baseball players gape at a baseball card was a great deal of fun."

BTW.... Zan saw that card before any of us did and did hold it too. I was alerted to that card by him on the FCB board well before it hit the news....

cool story and link too.

Default Keith is a great guy!

Thanks for the great article and photo.
When Keith worked in Boston in the mid 80's he was a frequent visitor at our card shop in Needham near WCVB-TV.
He was always very pleasant and shared some fantastic stories about our hobby. I was most impressed about Keith's writing the backs for the SSPC set.
He told me Mike Aronstien from TCMA was like a cat: he always landed on his feet! Great memories of a truly great guy and a Hall of Fame card collector.
thanks,
Bill Hedin

Thanks for posting the story, interesting to see the interest by Hudson and the other players.

My first impression from the title was that this was a story similar to Rep. Weiner and his tweets, I'm glad to be disappointed.

"I have lately come to believe that the timelines don’t add up, and that to some degree the rarity of the Wagner card was deliberately created, or at least enhanced, by the manufacturer."

Default Wagner

"..there are, at most, 100 copies of the Wagner known"

Didn't know that - is that true..?

While nobody knows for sure how many Wagners exist, it seems as though the general consensus among those knowledgeable on the set believe 70-90 copies exist. Many years ago, the estimate was at 50, but that has since gone up a bit.
