Default Waddell Bregstone PC's on eBay (one uncatalogued)

2 Waddell Bregstone PC's just closed on eBay. These were listed by a seller from PA who has 'antiques' that are generally <$100.

The catalogued version sold for $2084.

The uncatalogued version sold for $3938. This shows Waddell in a dark sweater with a different background from the previously known white uniform version. This set was thought to have around 50 players, but the exact number is now in doubt since there are 2 Waddells.

Lew Lipset had a huge group of 22 in his last auction that sold for $650/card with the vig.

Imagine what it would have went for graded, with better photos and from a seller with perfect feedback.

Seems uncatalogued is hot... Uncatalogued Rose Co. Wallace went for $4k too in Mile High.

Very aggressive prices.

pic of Wallace (not mine)...

Jeff -

True, but that Rose Wallace PC was in Jerry Spillman's checklist in his Old Cardboard article in Spring 2008. The Bregstone Waddell came out of nowhere.

Ah, good call Bill. Looks like the Wallace was discovered along with 4 other cards back in 2008.

My observation from attending the Omaha postcard show once or twice a year is that for the most part postcard dealers are old, and do not have a good grasp on the value of baseball related postcards...I'll bet there are a lot of uncatalogued still out there.

Was tracking these the whole way. I wasn't quite willing to go as high as they did but not surprised either. This is one of those times that I might look back on wishing i had gone higher but it just wasn't one of those gotta have it things for me. Great PCs though in great condition (as far as I'm concerned).
