Default 1925 Turf Cigarettes Card

I just picked up this 1925 Turf Cigarettes card of George Sisler. Does it look authentic? It was pretty cheap, so I guess that is why I'm suspicious.

I'm curious to know more about this issue: was it only distributed in london? Is Sisler the only baseball player? I assume they are talking about his 1922 season where he hit .420.

Any info on this card and Turf cigarette cards in general would be appreciated.

Looks like the one I have. They are inexpensive and British/German trade cards don't bring much. Still a cool card IMO>

It's real. It comes from a set of 25 cards each depicting a different "sport records" and the term "Sport" is used very liberally within the set. There is also a boxing card, golf card, mountain climbing, etc., etc.

The Sisler is the highest demand card in the set. It's actually a pretty cool little set with interesting write-ups on the backs of the cards (the Mountain Climber didn't live to see his card made, unfortunately!)

Thanks for the info. So is the Sisler card the only baseball card in the set?

Default Sisler card

Unfortunately, the Sisler card is the only baseball card. There are actually two series of 25, thus the card number...

Cheers,
Geno
