Default The mystique of the T206 set's 350/460 series....Show us your cards

Illustrated here are the 66 subjects that American Lithographic selected to continue into the 460 series. My theory is simple....this group of cards were printed on the last sheets of the original
350 series cards. With the exception of the 6 super-prints, notice that all the images are action poses (which is typical of the design in the latter phases of each T206 series).

v................................................. ....... Super-Prints .................................................. .......v

Provided here is a pictorial guide to the 63 subjects in the mystical 350/460 series....so, let us see some of your "goodies". The more of these that you have with tougher backs, the better.
Perhaps then we will discover some new front/back combos. There still remains quite a number of unconfirmed front/back combos in the 350/460 series.

Thanks for your inputs.

Default The mystique of the T206 set's 350/460 series....Show us your cards

My favorite Jennings card in the 350/460 series is this "one hand" version. It can be found with the American Beauty 460 (AB 460) back.
This is a very tough F/B combo to find....I think only 4 are known.

.

On the other hands (pun), Jennings "two hands" version is easier to find with an AB 460 back. This pose was also printed with the AB 350 (no frame) back.

You know how I love my "raw" cards. but it behooved me to get this Jennings graded. So, here it is now......only 2 graded by SGC, and this one is the highest grade.
I don't know if PSA has any of these Jennings graded.

Default Hey Johnny V

Here's another one of those Sweet Cap backs that American Litho. (ALC) mis-printed the overprint.

I love this kind of stuff. For it reveals to us "T206 dudes" that ALC indeed had 350/460 series Sweet Caporal 460 Factory #30 cards printed to go. But, the anticipated transfer
of Sweet Caporal cigarette production to the Liggett & Myers plant (Durham, NC, Factory #42) due to ATC's divestiture in 1911 changed the course of events.

Johnny,

As Ted points out, this particular misprint isn't that uncommon - you'll find it in various stages of offset from barely to as far as that Leach.

Hey Ted:

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but I'm trying! I thought that Sovereign 460 was in the middle of the pack on the "Rarity" scale. What makes the Matty rare???

Great question.

There are a total of 52 different subjects printed with the SOVEREIGN 460 backs. And, there are 3 levels of "scarcity" as follows......

1..Most rare are these 6 super-prints which are much more difficult to find with SOVEREIGN 460 back than the 46 subjects in the 460-only series.

2..Most available are these 12 subjects referred to as the "Exclusive 12" which are easier to find from the group of 46 subjects.

3..Moderately available are the remaining 34 subjects in the 460-only series.

The info regarding the SOVEREIGN 460 ranking that you are citing is too general, as it does not account for these 3 distinct differences.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

Things get clarified for me regarding T206s continuously...I guess my NEXT question is WHY? Any ideas, theories as to why some Sovereigns are more difficult than others???

Or can you direct me to some I can read about same???

Much Obliged!

Another 350/460 guy which can be found with as many as 18 different backs. I only have these 4 backs of Wiltse (pitching).

Nice looking card there Ted! I sure wish I had more that were similar to yours.

I can't imagine there are a whole lot of these guys floating around out there.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this set. I do appreciate it.
