I agree with all of the choices above. There are some good ones I've found searching the archives, I'll try to find a few that were pretty fun and entertaining. Is a T213-1 a T206 ?

Sincerely, Clayton

Side note* Some of the Pat Chan getting snagged threads were fun reading also.....before my time here, but very entertaining as well as educational.

Default Skydash

My vote would probably go for the Skydash series of threads. That was exciting and pretty neat.

I can't find the original thread that started the discussion....if I do I will re-post with a link.

Here's the link:

1. 1930 Goudey Ruth fiasco
2. Collector Forensic Service
3. Gretzky Wagner being trimmed threads

I love a good controversy or conspiracy theory.

Strictly for pure drama, the steaknchop thread is always the most memorable for me. Hell, it resulted in a bunch of hangup calls, random facebook requests from that clown, and of course his father threatening to sue...And lets not forget all the great corned beef hash jokes..

Based solely on content, there are way too many great threads, but the "Earliest Collectibles" thread is probably the one that I go back to the most for reference...

Default Good Threads

My vote for the trainwreck thread award goes to Bruce for his continued arrogance over an extended amount of time...Thanks Leon for finally putting that to rest !!

The best information based thread IMO goes to Ted for the compiling of the checklists for the T-206's. I refer to that thread weekely !!

I will second that. Ted's T-206 list and Phil's Earliest Collectibles list are probably the two most important and informative list's that have been compiled for these threads. Phil's got the HOF Rookie card list started as the "Earliest collectibles counterpart, and that should prove equally as important. There was the "HOF rookie card A-C" thread that got started a while back, that allowed for the "latest acceptable" rookie cards to also make the list. I think with a little work and obvious completion, that might be a great list as well to go along with Phil's lists.

Yes, Bruce threatened to sue Mr.Archive. That is the funniest I can recall.

There are too many good threads for me to say which I think would be the best. Certainly Ted's T206 threads, even with a few issues surrounding a bit of the data, are some of the best. I think we all need to be very careful when assimilating, and making public, data which is verified. This aspect of data collection goes all the way back to Burdick's days.

The letter to STATS, on authenticity, was the most replied to thread.

And lastly there was one when a famous authenticator got called out pertaining to authenticating bats/gloves he was selling, which changed the hobby a bit, vis a vis transparency and conflict of interest. That was one of the best to me. regards

Generally, I think of the train wrecks as the worst threads, not the best. The best are the ones that provide useful and informative information about cards.

I hate to bring him up again, but I loved reading the threads by Peter C. At least the first hundred, they did get a little old after awhile. My overall vote has to be the night of the Skdash Find. What an exciting night!

There have been plenty of informative threads on a variety of sets and I have enjoyed them the most. I am partial to the caramel issues, and always on the look out for threads about them. Here is one that may not have received much interest, due to its subject matter, but the author I have always thought was able to piece together with the help of fellow net54 members a convincing argument on the value of this issue:

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...&highlight=e91

Of course the author be me, so biased must I be. I submitted it originally when I for a time lacked a scanner, and Leon helped me out...always wished the pages had come out larger. I still think it deserves to be in the thread archive, perhaps doing legal battle vs. Bruce.

Brian

Leon,

craigslist.org has a bestof section. any chance you can put these gems in a "best of" catagory so we can find them more easily? That would be a great addition to an already great website.

thank you,

Default Best Net54 threads of all time ?

One tremendous Net54 thread is........

Barry Arnold's T206 thread in June 2006 regarding the El Principe de Gales (EPDG) cards attained 363 very meaningful and informative posts
on various aspects of the T206 set....which resulted in some ground-breaking discoveries. A really great thread in which many serious T206
collectors participated in, including Bill Heitman.

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...highlight=epdg

Then in Sept 2006, this follow-up thread further explored many topics that resulted from Barry's EPDG thread.

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...highlight=epdg

Check them out.

Good idea! We probably need some categories as well - e.g. funniest thread, thread I learned the most from, thread with the best eye candy...

.....the threads (immediately) leading-up to Peter Cs demise, years after, still make me laugh.

15/25 of the top threads, at any one time, were all his.

"So, if Rube Waddell would've married a poodle, what would that do to the value of Ducky Medwick's cards?

Crazy nonsense like that.

No disrespect to the Archive thread, but Chao, in his finest hour, was C-L-A-S-S-I-C.

Bruce can't come on to defend himself because he's been banned. There's something that makes me uncomfortable about giving people free rein to lambast a person, yet denying that person the right to respond. Perhaps the Board should consider a policy that restricts negative comments about people who are banned. Just my two cents.

Bruce just made three deals for some of the finest cards extant on his wantlist since this thread started.

If you decide to do a "best of" forum, It would be appropriate with our devotion to sports and memorabilia to call it the "Hall of fame of Postings".

In reading the open letter to Ted Taylor, I see how active the board used to be compared with lately. Is that because it was an extremely "hot" topic or is it more that board partcipation down?

There have been some really informative and interesting threads on this Board but for sheer hilarity and making me smile, no one could do it like Bruces pontificating on mixing body fluids and cardboard and the perils therein. Wanting to sue himself (aka Mr. Archive) is a close second.

In reading the open letter to Ted Taylor, I see how active the board used to be compared with lately. Is that because it was an extremely "hot" topic or is it more that board partcipation down?
This board is busier than back then..you just don't notice it because the forum is now broken down into separate sections...it used to be one board for everything.

Hi Corey
Absolutely, and you are correct. I am very tenacious in watching what is said about anyone that can not defend themselves. I see nothing in this thread where Brucii (his own affirmation) is getting lambasted. One tiny bit was the post AFTER yours but it's not that bad either. The fact we are talking about Brucii's idiocy in suing a computer process, to me, does not rise to the level of anyone bashing him. This is absolute fact and he wrote it on the board. He is the one that did it, not us. For us to point it out doesn't mean we are bashing him, we are merely talking about a thread. And lastly, you as much as anyone, should be aware of the bashing emails he has sent around concerning myself, and the irony of that, is that I am the only moderator that has usually taken up for him. So, to your question about a rule concerning bashing folks who can't defend themselves, we are in total agreement, and there is an unwritten rule that I do try to enforce when appropriate.

Thanks for the response Leon. Perhaps I was too limiting in what I said. I think there should also be prosciptions on making fun of banned posters in such a manner that the person if not banned would feel a need to respond and would if permitted to. Also, the references to Bruce in this thread go beyond just the Archive thread. I am mindful of some of the emails you received, but have always felt two wrongs don't make a right, not to mention that you weren't prevented from responding to those emails. Bruce at this point is down and out. I see no need to pile on.
