Default Higher premium t206 back, pied 350/460 fact 42 or cycle 460??

This one has made me change up on my opinion the last couple of months. Before, i would have said the pied fact 42, but not anymore. I have seem some astonishing prices lately on cycle 460's.would love to get thoughts and opinions on this.......Of course I know it depends on the individual card, but generally speaking.....

Tough call...I think the crazy prices on cycle 460's is due to a handful of cycle hoarders...honestly I think there is more likely a smaller overall population of pied fact 42's. Just my T206 hating opinion!!!!

Default Backs

I agree with Peter on this one. I can find the Cycles most of the time for a price. The 42's I can't find too often for sale.

Adam. I agree on availability, but on price premiums i am not so sure. I have seen some prices on cycle 460's that just blow me away, but the few pied fact 25's i have seen, not so much the case.....maybe it's just the timing.

In the past 18 months, ebay has had 58 different Cycle 460's listed and only 17 Piedmont Factory 42's of which 5 I either won or purchased. Piedmont 42's are not as popular as they were a year ago but Cycle 460's are selling for more than triple of what they were a year or so ago. The only backs with less than 17 listed on ebay over the past 18 months are:

Blank Backs (6)
Broadleaf 460 (4)
Drum (8)
Hindu Red (7)
Lenox Black (10)
Lenox Brown (1)
Old Mill Brown (1)
Uzit (10)

Hey Ronnie, great info, about a month ago there were 5 BL460s up at once. Willis, Murphy, Rucker, Sweeney & Kleinow.

I've found the Cycle 460s to be a bit of an oddity for prices. Overrated compared to similar priced AB460s.

Thanks for the update Chris. I actually do have 5 Broadleaf 460's on my list but one of them was not in order with the other 4 because I used a space between Broad Leaf and the others were listed as Broadleaf as one word. So my list should be (5) for Broad Leaf 460's.

Sorry Johnny, No extra piedmont 42's. I am looking to maybe upgrade my Rube Marquard Follow Through and then would sell the one I have that has some paper loss.

I would like to note for the record I have not bought or pushed the prices in auctions for Cycle 460s in about a year and a half. Thanks to those that did sell or trade the Cycle 460s I did need. I am up to 86 but have definately got tougher to obtain because of these crazy prices.

As far as the Piedmont 42, I do think they are tougher but hte fact it is only a factory designation I think lessen their appeal, just like the SC 25s (are they really that much easier than Pied 42s?)

I just looked at my T206 Detroit set and I have 1 Cycle 460 Jennings both hands. No Piedmont with factory 42.

Ronnie when you say only 17 Piedmont 42's have been listed on Ebay in the past 18 months, do you mean listed with Factory 42 in the title? Because I've seen at least a dozen that didn't mention factory 42 in the title or description and one lot of about a dozen cards had I think 5 factory 42's.

I am woefully out of touch with pricing. What's a vg factory 42 'common' going for lately?

I probably catch 99% if its in the title and if its not listed in the title and I see a card sell for alot more than it should of, I look further into the listing. When I first started my list, I would look at every auction and with so many T206 listings, it was starting to turn into a full time job. Mostly all listings of uncommon backs are usually listed in the title with the exception of the Piedmont 42s. Maybe not everyone understands their rarity. I've picked up a couple for under $50 just because it wasn't listed in the title. My numbers I list are not 100% acurate but 99% based on the titles. I use my list mainly to see what a card has sold for in the past and how the price moves up or down.
