Default Ink Blotter or Trade Card

Just picked this item up, originally I thought it was a trade card but after receiving it today it looks like an ink blotter. Any help would be appreciated.

From the size of it, it does resemble an ink blotter. Most aren't that old but I would guess they do go back that far. Also, most of them have some kind of coating on the back so the ink wouldn't seep through. I like collecting ink blotters...

It's fairly thick and has an odd texture to it, that's why I was thinking it might be an early ink blotter.

Size-wise it fits the bill I'd say. But I don't have much experience with ink blotters. Cool piece either way.
