Default creepy

Not pre-war, but creepy.

Bob Sheppard reminds me of the old guy in 'big trouble in little china' or that old Chevy Chase movie where he ends up stuck in some junk yard house with an insane old guy.

I always thought this one was creepy because it looks like there's a ghost standing behind the end of Mickey's bat.

Default record album

One of the more striking record albums was an album autographed by John Lennon for his killer Mark Chapman. Chapman had Lennon sign the album in person on the street hours before the murder. The album was auctioned recently and came with a plethora of authenticating documentation, including that it was used as evidence in the murder trial and that it contained Lennon's and Chapman's finger prints.

David- do you know what the Lennon album sold for? I always wondered about that thing. Somebody took a photograph of him signing it for Chapman.

Barry, I think the last signed record (Double Fantasy) sold in 2003 for $525,000.

The one that sold for 525K- was that the one John signed for Chapman?

Won this 1920's Japanese menko on eBay yesterday. Not sure if it qualifies as creepy. Perhaps melodramatic would be more like it. Looks like the runner is being murdered.

I hear ya, Barry. Although I was only 10 when it happened, I also recall seeing concert footage from years prior where Chapman was sitting in the front row. Too creepy.

If we venture into the Non-Sports card world the entire "Horrors of War" set is about as creepy as it gets, even by today's standards.

On the subject of Mark David Chapman, anybody see the movie about him starring Jared Leto? I had to turn it off halfway through. Leto's performance might have been accurate but it was so damn uncomfortable to watch I couldn't actually sit through the whole thing.

Not so much creepy, but ethereal would be the word I would use to describe the 1972 Topps card of Billy Cowan.

Creepy is far too light of a word to describe THAT! Where on Earth did you find it? You have to give us some more details -- I think I'm going to have nightmares from that one!

I found a scan of it online a long time ago. thought it was pretty fascinating. If poor Rube hadnt been prepping sand bags in freezing cold water he wouldnt of been in that situation.

While his items themselves are not creepy, any card or item depicting Marty Bergen (1896-1899) has to rank up there on the creepy scale given what he did at the end of his life. If you aren't familiar with the story it isn't for the faint of heart if you do decide to look it up.
