Default The Post Office set a record for me today

I got a card in the mail today (8/7/23) that I didn't remember ordering.
I figured out why I didn't remember when I looked at the postage date

Judging by that postage at least it wasn’t a grail. That’s crazy. At least it got there!

Yikes. Probably fell behind the sorting machine and was discovered on maintenance detail.

I got a Sportslot package last week that had gotten caught in a machine and ripped apart. It arrived in one of those plastic baggies with an apology note on it. Luckily there was nothing of real value in it, just some modern commons for my fantasy baseball binder. Six or so out of 12 cards were either gone or totaled.

But for as many card-filled packages/envelopes as I've received over the years the number of issues I've had is very low.

So now the sender is claiming I stole the card and is demanding I send him a money order for $1,60

Of course I told him to pound sand. He's got a half dozen negative reviews all about his rude attitude.

I had a similar, but much more extreme, example of this occur at work a few years back. We sent paper invites to an event. Time went by, we went to a paperless system, and the day of the paper invite had come and gone. It got to the point where we didn't think about those invites (it was for an annual event) very often....until one came back, marked, "Return to sender."

Four years later.

The other day, I found a small Amazon package laying in the hallway of my apartment building. It was addressed to someone who lived 20 minutes away!

I put the package in my car and stumbled upon an Amazon driver yesterday. Gave them the package and they said some driver probably dumped it to get off of work early.

Does anyone do their job correctly anymore?

Jim: no.

I had a Bobby Orr 2nd year card go missing, allegedly delivered. Six months later it showed up. Apparently, it was dropped at a neighbor's, the neighbor turned it in for redelivery, and it took six months to make it to me, all entirely out of the system. Regardless, i was pleased to get it.

My biggest scare was a T206 Young that went missing in registered mail. The driver assigned to the route, a probie, didn't bother to turn in his registered items at the end of the day, he just left them on the truck for delivery whenever he got around to it. That was a harrowing couple of days. The driver was never seen again. I think they executed him for violating the sanctity of Registered Mail.

How did he know it even showed up, did you email him?

And that is pretty amazingly petty for a 1.60 card, lol.

Clearly you used your go-go-gadget Extendo Arms to propel to his house and package the $1.60 card to send to yourself.

Darkhorse- glad the package finally arrived

This frequently visited topic of delivery service issuesmight never go away. I
can say for sure, in my neighborhood, USPS is far and away the best option.
(Please note I didn't claim they are perfect, just clearly the best option).
Fedex is an atrocity, I wouldn't recommend them to an enemy, much less
a friend. I've watched the same Amazon driver deliver dog food to my home
twice, when it's meant for the people across the street. She claims her GPS
tells her to turn into my driveway- yet ignores the plainly visible mailbox
addresses at both homes. She WILL do it again next month. I'm not so
against UPS, although you do run into the same bureaucratic nonsense as
with Fedex, if there's ever any sort of hangup- they are not customer
friendly, more like obstructive... At least my postal folks know me by name.

I am convinced my local Fed Ex delivery guy is a junkie. He has all the outward appearances of one plus attitude. He says he tried to deliver when he didn't, never leaves a notice when one is needed and cannot or will not answer a simple question. The number of times I have had to go to the Fed Ex central depot to get a package due to his negligence seems countless. I have complained about him to their "management" about my difficulties and they say they will look into it. Sure

The USPS worked awesome for me this week. I mailed out a card to a fellow member Monday and he received it Tuesday morning. Could be because we only live 60 miles apart in very rural South Dakota.

Yeah. I told him. Looked up my ebay purchases to even see that I did order it. I figured it was worth a good laugh, but he went on the attack immediately.
Now he thinks I should pay again. Truthfully I would have sent the card back to him as I didn't need it any more, but he was such a d-bag about it so I won't
