Default Looking for Info on a Cafe Du Jon set

Many years back i bought this full set glued into the album from a French connection of mine.

I completely forgot about it but rediscovered it while looking for something else..i was told it was rather rare and to date i've come up empty on locating any of the cards or any information.

My best recollection is that it was early 1950's..

Hoping one of you big Boxing card collectors may be able to help.

I'm just cold soaking the cards now so i will add some of the boxing cards later..for now i'm including these scans including a checklist.

My apologies..not sure how to turn them the right way..

thanks,
Amit

Looks very similar to the myriad other late 1940s-early 1950s cafe issues from France: Motte Cordonniere, Docs Franc-Comtois, L'Etoile Des Alpes, etc.

Any address or other ID on the cafe itself?

cafe du donjon may be a brand rather than a location.

Default cafe du donjon

It appears to be a hotel/restaurant in France. There are some cards listed on eBay.

Do your cards look like these?

My guesstimate based on the Robinson photo is that it is from his early 1950s sojourn in Europe.

Some do but it's almost always Panini and the prices are hefty for American players. Most of the time, the basketball players in these sets are local players.

Carpano Campioni del Mondo has some nice PC-sized cards from the '50s with subjects like Jesse Owens and Ray Robinson.
