Default 1986 Fleer Card Hat

Back in 1986 I ordered one of these card hats from Fleer thru their wrapper offer...I put some Fleer Famous Feats cards in it and even wore it to a couple regional card shows back then...I still have it with the cards in it but I have never seen another one...does anybody else have one or seen one?...was I the only one who spent $3 on this thing or the only one who is willing to admit it?

Until proven otherwise, I am claiming this is the only one in existence and might actually be worth the $3 I paid for it.

Let's see another one.

Pics and it really happened...and I did actually wear it.
Have posted in several groups and forums and to date not even another sighting of one.

Can it be the only one of an item from the "junk wax era"?

Neat item. I wonder if someone has a complete collection of all the send away merchandise advertised on sports card wrappers

Don't have one and have never seen one, but I do love it!

The closest thing that I have is the hat my mother made me in 1976 in my college colors, green and gold . . .

Hey, sportscards and cold beers do go together well!

I bet if you could go back in time to 86 you’d have spent your $3 on a few basketball packs instead of the hat, lol

That is pretty cheesy. I think you got taken!

I was picturing one of those really puffy ball caps of the time, with the mesh in the back with some cards printed on to the puffy front part. Like my little league caps.

Just checking in to see if anyone else has one of these or ever seen one of these silly Fleer card hats...I am still claiming I have the only one but it's been posted long enough that surely someone else out there other than me must have one...come on guys and 'fess up...we can start our own card hat club

I ordered one of these as a kid and thought for sure I'd have a fortune in it when I rediscovered it later on in the late 90s. Seems they were either made in massive quantity, completely undesirable or both! They are still not overly old at this point, which is not helping value either.

I do still have it tucked away somewhere.

BREAKING NEWS...My 1986 Fleer Card Collectors Hat is no longer lonely...it now has the company of the 1989 Topps Baseball Cap with Topps Plush Furrball...no online dating site was necessary for this magical union of baseball haberdashery...although they originate from different brands their future together seems bright as long as they can get past the puzzled looks and awkward questions

I will not be attending the National but am still curious about my silly Fleer collector's hat...if I was going I would definitely wear it and put cards in it...if anyone happens to see one at the National I would be interested in hearing about it or seeing confirmation of another one as I still have had no other sightings of another one in existence...there must be another as it is only 35 years old

Thanks,
John

Odds of many of those surviving seems small in my opinion. They are just so cheap looking and would be easy to toss when one is cleaning up. I am guessing they are not real durable either?

I recently found a Beckett ball cap in my garage. Nothing special. They sent it to me when I contributed an idea to a contest they were holding back in the 90s. I almost tossed it, but stashed it back in a box for that decision to be made later.

John I think the hat with the redeem card makes a nice display piece. Very nice indeed

I wore mine a few times back in the 80's and would wear it again as it is in nice shape...it has a cloth top and vinyl pockets for the cards...the vinyl over time will likely discolor and crack like many of the first generation card pages.

I am becoming more convinced this could be the only surviving hat.

I would not doubt you may have the only one. If another exists, I'm sure the owner is much less excited about it than you are.

There is something to be said about the nostalgia of something like that for sure.

I hope another appears, just to know yours has a mate somewhere out there.

My buddy has one.....I saw it the last time I was at his house (he had it on a mannequin). Next time I go there (he lives out of state), I'll grab a couple pictures.
