Default Ty Cobb Lucky 7 Find PSA 3.5

Had the opportunity to work this one, and it's the first time I've ever worked an entire slab. Very happy with the results!

Just over 3 feet tall. Made entirely from cut baseball cards:

I also had the opportunity to talk with John Dreker of Pirates Prospects recently. Fun interview that allowed me to dig deep into the experiences that led to this career:

Default Cobb / Cobb

You gonna take a stab at the Cobb back to go with the front?

F-ing incredible work Tim. I also think the back would be a great companion piece to the front on this project.

Cannot believe how well you captured the slab itself, using just cards. Especially the appearance of the ridges and the part that frames the card. That's some incredible work, Tim...

Someone must've really loved and had confidence in PSA, to want to include the slab in the actual artwork. Came out perfectly... A magnificent presentation!

Tim, a masterpiece, what issue are you using for the slab?

I actually worked the back a couple years ago as a stand alone advertising piece:

Thank you! The slab was a challenge, but a fun one. I knew that faking out the plexiglass was going to be the key to pulling this off.

Thanks, Peter! It was a mid-00's Upper Deck issue (they had a billion sets during that time). When I first started the piece, I was going to try something lighter. It wasn't going to work; the card border and outer edges of the plexi were going to blend in. Getting the contrast did the trick.

I just put a deposit down on a rendering of the PC796 Cobb-Wagner Postcard (IMO, one of the greatest images with two of the best players). I am so psyched.

Waiting list of almost 2 years!!!!

Tim's work is indeed in high demand. I cant wait to post it (in 2 years)

Thank you, Ryan! I have a ton of pieces to finish beforehand, but I'm excited about working that Wagner/Cobb.

Every piece is special - literal days of my life poured into them, and I can think of something unique about each piece that I love. Peter can attest to the lesson I learned during the creation of the Babe: finding the proper reference photo for color matching is everything.

Everything is part of the journey, and if some think each piece is better than the last.....mission accomplished!

Thank you all for the kind words and the opportunities you have given me.

Tim
