Sometimes i can be a little dramatic, to get my point across. i think it was affective in this case. sheesh....and i thought i toned it back by not cursing.

If both of those things happened on the same day in the same city, what would be the headlining event in that little pre-news thingl?

In all reality though, if there are roughly 7 percent of them with this mark. Surely, someone else on this board can produce one or even has one to sell right?

Hey Kevin

Granted, $1200 may be a ridiculously high price for that card.

But, get this straight, that printer's mark is not just a "period". It is the lower remnant of the "N" in "Nat'l" of the Joe Doyle error card......of
which there are only 8 of these error cards known in the hobby.

In the process of erasing the word "Nat'l" on the printing plate of Joe Doyle's caption, American Litho (ALC) was sloppy and did not clear it off
completely. Shortly after, ALC removed this mark and a greater majority of the Joe Doyle cards do not have this mark.

We discussed this back in a thread I posted in 2007.....here's the link to it:

Kevin, they were very reasonable a year ago. Something happened - not sure what, but I'm glad I grabbed a nice one beforehand. I feel the same way about this mysterious 'dot' as I do about the 'nodgrass' and some of the other caption issues people are trying to cash in on.

Hey Guys

This aint no DOT on this Joe Doyle caption. In fact this MARK lines up precisely with the leading serif of the N in Nat'l....it also drops below the line of text,
as does the N in the real Joe Doyle error card. It is indeed a remnant of the N.

And, here are some more UPPER CAPTIONS........

I love these threads where Ted posts so many pics and peripheral-info T206 details. I also need to get a scanner like his - thought mine was good, but I'm obviously incorrect.

Nice one Martin... I'm pretty sure that's one I had slabbed LOOOOONG ago. It's changed hands a few times to a few different board members if memory serves me correct.

Instead of starting it's own thread I'll reopen this one. I was going through the set I just got back and this one caught my eye. The letters in the team name are seriously funky. I did a search of Purtell cards and all looked normal. Any thoughts?

I sort of looks like some letters were missing and someone wrote them in?

Could be another one of the ones where the caption didn't transfer to the plate properly, but in this case it got fixed. All the press operator would need to do to fix it would be to scratch in the missing letters.

Sorry for the delay guys. The ink is original to the card. So small that i don't think you could write it with a pen and it's the right color. Can everyone check their Purtells and maybe we can find another.

Default Christy in lipstick

Can you guys tell me why the red would be off on both sides of this? Also, are the two dots of red on the side just to the left of his head ink drops or something that was spilled on the card later? Not as weird/cool as most of you have, but interesting to me.

What you're seeing is the pink layer shifted to the right and the bright red shifted slightly left.

Under the red at the left, there's a slightly lighter band the same width as the pink that sticks out at the right. And a similar but smaller vertical band at the right.

It's hard to tell about the other spots. Could be stains, could be spattered ink. Even in hand it can be hard to tell sometimes.

Thanks, I had not thought of pink. I could not figure out two red shifts. Man, guys on this board know everything about these cards.

Really great stuff!!

Has anyone started a site (other than a thread) where you can post and keep track of all T206 back mis-cuts? If everyone that owned some/one was willing/able to upload them to one site, we might be able to piece together a partial sheet. Just thinking out loud...

Desiderata

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

Mike,

I'm pretty sure those would get a qualifier if submitted to PSA.

Word to the wise...if you're going to sell, do not get them slabbed!!!

(Neat cards by the way)

In looking through some T206's, looked at this one again. There is a horizontal print mark at top white border about midline.......The topic of print marks, oddities, color changes often spoke of here. I have read some of the topic but dont know the significance of this mark. Does it change the value of this card to someone who is looking for these?. I have seen the marks on the images of the proof T206 cards that have been spoken of in past. I dont delve into this subject much but I know others do.

As far as adding to the value, in my opinion it all comes down to the collector. In other words, what someone is willing to pay I guess.

Bresnahan is one of those T206s that the more examples you look at, the more subtle differences/oddities you notice.

Here are a few examples:

1 - Printer's mark
2 - Notice his hat, strange red ink pattern, AB/F 350 back
3 - Crop line
