Yes, unfortunately it wasn't going to be viable for low starting price, higher dollar type auctions....at least that which was auctioned. We tried.....and everyone's patience was appreciated. It doesn't seem to have affected any other areas negatively, which was good too.

That's a shame. There was definitely potential in the idea though. I don't know if you or Sean noticed, but the average "views" per lot was around 400-500 each! That's way past eBay and most AH's. I'm sure there's a winning formula somewhere, but it may take a bit of trial and error.

I agree it did not negatively affect the other forums or threads. It was certainly worth the effort

My opinion would be to get rid of the gimmicks and just sell cards. The main thing I seen wrong was large lots of low end cards. They are a buyers dream and a sellers nightmare. I figured they were just clearing out extra bulk junk not worth listing on ebay.

I was hoping it would work out for them because it gives me more access to purchase cards besides ebay. At least 50% of the cards I have purchased in the last 6 months have been from other forum members.

FWIW, in my opinion listing cards with reasonable for-sale prices would probably work better than auctions in a paid BST section.

Agreed. The reason why it works on auction sites like ebay is because they have simple methods of tracking auctions and the sites are built to facilitate them in general. I personally would never participate on an auction on this site because it's too much hassle. That being said, I buy cards listed at fixed prices from the BST all the time.

it seemed kind of lame to me to have mostly non-vintage cards up for sale/auction...right in between categories of vintage card categories? just my opinion.

Default prices

I thought the final prices were fairly strong considering the items that were offered. These were low to mid grade lots that would be a tough sell on eBay and it would be a lot of work to try to move them at a card show. I enjoyed the auctions and I liked the items that were listed for sale, but I didn't end up winning anything.

I was looking forward to the next round, but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Best of luck with your next venture.

Rick

As mentioned previously, groupings offered via fixed price (with an offer option) and the ability to pay with regular PP would be more enticing.

It was a worthy experiment.
