Just a general question...How do most of you read Net54?

I have Net54 bookmarked to the main page. When I log on I hit New Posts and look through the threads. I ignore what I don't want to read and when I am done I go to quick links and hit Mark Forums Read. I find this way to be efficient and having lots of threads doesn't really bother me.

Do other people use Net54 differently?

Jeff

I always click on the icons to go to the forums categories. I always start with the main home page forum on the far left. I start from the top and go down, clicking threads to read new posts, until there are no highlighted threads. The highlighted ones are ones that have new posts I have not read.

I don't think there is a huge problem currently.... Maybe you should go on a case by case basis when someone has ten threads they are bumping daily in one single section... I've seen it happen...

I feel like one for each of the individual B/S/T threads would be perfect.

Im sure I've missed it somewhere, but I think it would be very beneficial if there was a separate "Wanted" section. That will eliminate the WTB posts in the B/S/T section and ultimately have a smoother section to sell your items. Then you could click on the "Wanted" section and scroll down to see if you have what someone is looking for. Way easier..

Mixing the wanted and the selling portions all together can partially clog the section and will help those that only look to buy anyways.

Not saying it's really bad right now, just might be helpful..

I agree.I think a "Wanted" section is a great idea. Also if someone sells everything they have posted, can the posts be deleted? That would clear
up some room.

There probably won't be wanted sections as the current areas address them. And I am not in favor of deleting old threads for a few reasons. Mainly because if there were no threads, or a bunch less, it would look like there isn't much activity, which in itself leads to less activity. Plus folks like to see what they missed....and many times can make deals from what was already done.

At least that what it looks like to me.
I thought that there already was such a rule, or at least a guideline, regarding bumping.

And if there's not a rule, you would think common sense and courtesy would prevent excessive bumping of threads. But hey, when it comes to selling a $30, $28, $25, $22, $20 $18 item, common courtesy be damned.

No, because there should be a record of the cards being sold in the first place. If I'm a potential buyer of somebody's cards for the first time, I look through their history to see if they've sold before. We can assume that everybody here has the best intentions, but if I'm going to send Paypay "gift" to somebody, I want a little more assurance before I send money in a way that leaves me no recourse.

So if they are new here and have never sold before, you wouldn't buy from them? One of the things of that I like about the B/S/T is 99% of the members selling
are honest.I have done a lot of deals on here and have had no problems. And if anyone has a problem, you will hear about it.Also Leon does a great job kepping out scammers!!

I think he just means its nice to look thru someone's history and see what type of seller they are. Problems in the past, good seller, etc..

It's also nice to search years past and see what items sold for. I like the edit button, but I actually hate it when people change the price to "sold". I like to see what an item sold for 3 years ago that I may have just purchased myself.

I see what your saying. When he said he wanted to see if they sold before,
I thought he was leary about buying from newer members.

Any guideline that you implement Leon will work for me, so no need for me to vote.

I'm one board member who uses the "PM on its way" avenue when purchasing a card and will continue to do so. After purchasing close to 300 cards on the B/S/T since joining Net54, the B/S/T is obviously a safe place and my method seems to be working well for me.

As far as the feedback system, I agree with Rob D. There is no need to post in a thread that you received the cards. Just send the seller a PM instead of bumping an old thread to the top. New threads will stay on the front page a little longer and a seller will know that you received your card/s. Both bases are covered.

Default No new written rules....

As was evidenced in all of the comments, and after sleeping on it and analyzing the percentages above, I don't think anyone could say there is an overwhelming majority of any particular thing (in the poll) voted on. For that reason there will be no new, written rules.

I have changed my mind on this. Let's leave it as taking each case as a 1 off. So, just PM me on stuff that is going on and we can discuss. But yes, I would generally think more than 4-5 open threads at once is too many..and I would probably consolidate some if I were PMd about it.
