The seller is one of the most popular board members. Most even keeled guy I know.

Default T206 Sherry Magie error from Canada

Adrian has an interesting approach to selling: changing his eBay ID to match the item!

Default Maybe it is not Adrian!

With the new handle, how do you know it is Adrian? Maybe there is someone else from Gatinaeu who sells big ticket cards on Ebay, who puts the $ sign at the end of the number, who shouts at you in capitals, who adds 20 updates to the original listing??? Hmmm? You know, I might bid, but am pretty sure it will be pulled due to an error in the listing, and show up a few more times on Ebay before all is said and done.

I was a rare board member who had something of a tolerance for Adrian. One thing i will say for him is that when he wanted something, he went after it hard. He and I often looked for similar cards and he would pay at least half again what I would be willing to. I have a lot more respect for people…even crazy people…who put their money where their mouth is than I do for big mouth tire kickers. He also would make sacrifices to get what he wanted. When he bought the Plank, he had to sell a classic car he had an affinity for to afford it…again, it was something he was willing to pay a good deal more for than I thought it was worth. I conversed with him a lot and even got to the point of negotiating a bit for his other Magie…and I actually did buy a few cards from him. Certainly and interesting guy. If you're reading this, Yo Adrian.

Are you sure you aren't thinking about Nelson (g_vezina_c55 )? He was selling a classic car to get a plank (http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=147104).

I don't recall Adrian ever going for a Plank.

I have a question about the slab. Why doesn't it denote the error?

Oops - nevermind!!!!

Shocker!!!

Personally I do not have a whole lot of respect for someone who pays dramatically more than something is worth...makes no sense to me...just seems dumb!

Did Adrian overpay because he was a serious collector, or because he was obsessive and compulsive? He struck me as someone who could not control his own life. And every card he paid top dollar for he bailed out of a short time later.

I guess this way he could call it a "no reserve" auction, and still bail out if it looked like he wasn't getting a good price.

Adrian (or whatever his real name is) is a joke. The fact that his eBay listings still draw interest here is a testament to his lunacy.

The kid is absolutely clueless. While I wish him well, his methods are bizarre.

Best,

Eric

I don't think "beyond reproach" means what you think it means.

Thanks for the assist. Have a great weekend.

As a marketing/advertising ploy, the constant i.d. changes are one of the few things he's come up with that makes some sense.

Maybe this should be the next Net54 game or contest; pick what date Adrian changes his eBay name and what famous year and/or card series will be in the title.

Default I have never met or communicated with Adrian

But, if his story is true, it is sad that we are berating him. Should I ever have an affliction I doubt I would mention it here as it seems to be a source of ridicule.

If you had been here in Adrian's heyday then you would know why some members are lighting him up.

I remember one thread he made fun of another board member's physical disability.

He brought a lot of this abuse on himself.
