Posted By: MikeU
Wow, strong power play by Gizmo. Leon, can we start a pool on the timing of the counter offer?

I am certain those two offers on the table are very tangible. Can you imagine the lost business at GAI if one of the offer included:

"Gizmo, former lead authenticator at GAI, is now on the Coache's Corner Team." Now that my friends, would be a game changing event.

Posted By: Tim Kinserlow
Personally, I would not trust any signature authenticated from either GAI or Gizmo, just based on their word. I have enough years/experience in autograph collecting that I can spot the bad stuff that their "experts" routinely miss. They have authenticated some legit autographs, but I have seen more than my fair share of forgeries residing with GAI authentication attached to them.

Honestly, I have seen so many bad GAI authenticated autograph pieces that it's sickening. Not sure if it was the great work of Gizmo, the former Justin Priddy, or another "expert" over there.

They are not really helping the hobby with their autograph authentication services. I wish they would just get an authenticator in there to get it right, or cease the services. I can't imagine how many uneducated collectors have been burned by buying some of those forgeries GAI has passed.

These are just my personal opinions and experiences.

Posted By: DJ
What really amazes me about a genre of collecting that is riddled with fraud is that no matter what bad press is thrust upon them, they manage to survive and still prosper. Global may yet again change it's business strategy and there may again be a following that allows it to continue to act on the behalf of the collecting public.

As SCD continues to prosper (exist?) despite the fact that it is has done more harm than good and refuses to listen to the advertisers and readers who continue to show it's distaste for the once prominent publication by reducing it to the thickness of an Olson twin, the hobby mavens refuse to see change as a solution.

By the way, Coach's Corner's latest auction ends on Friday so get those bids in early!

They say that a first impressions are important because you form an immediate opinion...like a kid with a mohawk on a job interview...you may have already formed an opinion in a negative light, I have to question the education of a person who throws himself out there with those grammar skills.

This is the guy who is passing or failing my Babe Ruth ball? He can't even end a sentence properly.

My two cents...

DJ
